XP to level

(MTLMortis) #1

why doesn’t the XP bar show how much left to level?

That should be a basic part of the UI

(N8o) #2

This is a feature already at the end of matches, right?

(Ardez1) #3

Why should it matter how much experience you need to get to the next level? The levels themselves only provide a single case. Each level is 400,000 experience after a certain point as well. This means you will always have a good idea of how much more you need to get to the next level when you are beyond level 12-ish.

If it didn’t matter, for whatever reason, then you wouldn’t need a progress bar (with numbers) or even an xp earned number. People like numbers.

So your point is numbers for the sake of numbers?

Personally I would like it if it did show us how much xp we have, and the amount needed to reach the next lvl. (eg. 100/500). Level is meaningless now but there is no telling that level may have added functionality in the future.

Uhhhhh…

It does?

Go to the main menu of the game. Just hover your mouse over the XP bar in the top right corner area.

That shows how much EXP you have accumulated. Total.

I’ve been wondering the same. It’s such a simple improvement. Each mission does the same, so why not for levels? Even if levels don’t really matter.

I usually like your posts Ardez, but this is kinda meh. Don’t like how you just shoot him down like that. A lot of people do not know that every levelup requires you to earn 400k experience, heck I didn’t know for ages and was wondering how bad it must be for level 50 players to level up.

I’m sure it would be nice to see exactly how much experience you still need to level up, it also wouldn’t require much either. Now you hover over the experience bar and you’ll see your total experience, they should just add a line below it saying exp till lvlup: xxxx. It really isn’t that hard and gives some clarity to players. In all honesty I was also surprised this wasn’t already in the game since it it kinda basic UI.

The point is that it’s an active thing to work towards that is visually represented and maintains interest in the game. It’s something that is in every single other game that has some form of character progression, and they put that in for a reason. Even knowing it’s merely a psychological trigger activating addictive behaviors in my brain, I still get the kick out of it.

Hmm…
Be4: didnt know that i needed 400k exp for next level and didnt care.
Now: know that i need 400k exp for next level and still dont care.
Progress !

Numbers are always nice. I’m a fan of always having more stats as opposed to the UI design concept of being minimalist as possible (in an attempt not to confuse the audience). I’d be fine if it was changed to show a bit more. But I can understand a UI person’s insistence that things remain simple. But in this case a bit more transparency would be nice because pretty much every MMO, a game type most of us have probably played at some point, shows numbers in this manner. And if you’re going to adopt a leveling system similar to what is common in MMO’s you might as well show all the information they show even if levels currently are pretty meaningless.
