XP / Level up / Play 15 min / maps

#1

Suggestion for DB:
Add a map for “XP / Level up / Play 15 min” (However those who are into it play this mode for hours)

Its small, and has very basic and almost symetrical design.

Examples in other games:

COD4 MW: Killhouse
COD MW2: dont know the name
COD Black Ops 1: Nuketown
COD Black Ops 2: Nukejacked (2 maps only Nuketown + Hijacked)
CS:S: dont know the names
CS:GO: dont know the names

TL;DR
Add play for a specific small map fighting like nuketown, for those who are into that.

You have to realize that unlike in other games, here your score is built mostly by playing objective and not by K/D.
What kind of objective will you get in a small map like Killhouse & Nuketown…?

There are TDM maps that suit this style you’re speaking of. TDM hasn’t had much focus yet so you won’t have seen them. It was quite a while ago that we played around on them.

Wouldn’t that defeat the point of xp entirely? It works for retail but for F2P you need the xp to keep the free players from filling the servers for the paying players. It’s a really cynical way of putting it but that’s basically the model.

I must have explained my self wierd since this not at all how it works.

Ok let me try again.

Small maps like “nuketown”, some hate, but many loves. This game mode, is very popular, about 2nd place to TDM.
#1 TDM
#2 Domination
#3 Nuketown / Whatever name for each game (can have 1 mode like Dom or TDM, or have rotated game mode)

Why people like it is perhaps irrelevant, and maybe caused the confusion.

But 1 more reson why some like it, that I didnt mention, is that it has

  • instant action (less amount of moving / running, due to small size in map)
  • high action

So, just think of it, as a “game mode”, like objective, stop watch, execusion, domination, team deathmatch, gun game, search and destroy, etc.
There is no harm in it.
Im just reminding SD, that there is an established taste for this mode.

Oh right. Those grind maps are popular. But maybe that’s why they should be completely without xp and statistic tracking. That way you’re only going to see people who want to improve their combat skills and not padding their account.

Why should people who like small maps, not be allowed to have progression / earn XP?

Feels like we are seeing this from 2 entirely different worlds. I look at you like you are alien

Sorry, dont want to offend you with my alien opinions.

Two reasons,

  • you’ll grind xp faster on these maps. And if isn’t faster then at least it’s easier to just keep on grinding than to actually play tactically over a diverse set of maps.

  • map diversity needs to be secured. Ideally you want all maps to be played in equal amounts by each player. Because of the simplistic nature people will gravitate towards these type of maps which will shift them all away from rest of the map list.

I like these maps but I’ve seen them corrode playerbases before. They’re like a mould creating an intricate ecoysystem over. Lots of great maps and inventive game-modes remained unplayed because players stuck to their grinding comfort zone.

That’s why I believe they shouldn’t be part of the main game. More like some multiplayer training challenge or something.
