XP color code also in Missions descriptions

(FireWorks) #1

New players sometimes seem to struggle with the different XP types required for specific missions.

You know the color codes for different ingame tasks:
Blue for Support XP like healing etc.
Yellow for Game mode XP like repairs etc.
Red for Combat XP from kill related tasks.

While its pretty obvious for veterans, I believe the game would benefit from using its own ingame color code through out the whole UI.

This includes the missions and the debrief screen. It doesnt have to be too much to kill the game’s general aesthetics, but at least write Combat, Game Mode and Support in their respective colors, maybe a bit “paler”.

So a mission would be:
Get 9000 Combat XP with Nader in your squad. The bold part would be red…

General XP would just stay as is.

Would you like this as an addition?
Do you think this would make people get easier into the game?

Ew.

Maybe this makes it into the new patch?

I don’t see why you would make that statement. This is a low impact suggestion that really didn’t get much vocal support. If it wasn’t already on the radar of SD then I highly doubt it will make it this patch.

On a side note, please don’t bump threads for visibility.

You have seen the latest dev streams I assume. They changed the look of the missions in the UI so I thought it might be the last chance to bring it up.

As someone active on these forums, you might be aware of some classic newbie problems. If you look around on other boards and especially twitch streams, the perceived low income is indeed a topic for enough people out there.

Considering how easy it should be to change the text color, it would have a high ratio of reward to effort. What you as mod deem as low impact is not really relavant, check your sig.

I don’t think the struggle for new players is on the difference between the types of missions, but on the knowledge of their existence.

New players likely just click the big play button at the top like I did. It wasn’t until after i played a few games that i took a good look at the menu screen and noticed the missions.

At no time though did i not understand what the mission were asking me to do, and i think to imply otherwise is to suggest the playerbase is mentally challenged, when in fact their probably just eager to get to the action.
