Looking at one of the videos on justin.tv, it appears there is a +20% XP boost for playing online (rather than just against bots) and a further 15% XP boost for completing a match.
I also noticed that you get around 500-700 for being on the winning side.
Average XP for a decent player seems to be around 4,000 XP/match which lasts around 10-15 minutes. So it should take about 75 of these 10-15 min matches to get to level 20 (300,000 XP), or 15-20 hours of gameplay. Feels like good numbers to me.
Thanks for doing the math, Bridger. Those do sound like good numbers to me, and since I do plan on respeccing at 20, I figure it will be a bit longer.
15 hours would be pretty decent for 1 character. Obviously I personally would want more, but still.

Isn’t it the norm to increase the required XP as you level up each time. Wouldnt this affect these numbers quite a bit.

It’s in the Prima Guide. Someone confirmed it on one of those threads yesterday.
You need 300 000 xp for max level. It doesn’t matter how that amount is divided between levels, the end result is the same.

i was a bit sceptic the first time i read that you “only” can level up to 20, but if it takes this amount of time to complete each character, i’m fine with it! is it thursday yet?
This doesn’t sound too bad, glad it won’t end up being like CoD where you’re half way through a prestige and end up getting bored of the long leveling. However 15 hours of gameplay for the average player seems about the right length.
(slightly off topic but how many characters can you have?)

at least in my case they always ship it one day earlier if you preorder. don’t know how’s it going where you live. cannot even tell where you live!lol

Somebody on another thread said they had the strategy guide and found that it would take 300,000 XP to get to level 20 when they added it all up.

Yeah… At first I thought The Colder Lands would make people realize the sterotype since it’s a sterotype that Swedish and Norway is cold as piss and there is snow everywhere all time of the year, and that there are polar bears and penguins… :l
