Xbox v PS3 v PC

(Capper) #1

I’d just like to note that XBOX are already bragging that BRINK has sold more copies on their console than the other platforms.

http://www.oxm.co.uk/28445/news/xbox-360-brink-sales-are-triple-those-on-ps3/

Interesting.

Now, before anyone starts, I’m not a PS3 fanboy, I own a PC and an XBOX and made a conscious decision to buy on PC.

BUT:

On the PC it has been damn near impossible for users in the UK to purchase the game on Steam, therefore the figures are impacted. Massively.

The PS3 network has just come back online with most user unable to login yet and SONY are stating it could be the end of JUNE before the majority are back on PSN.

Why the hell are xbox bragging about this?

Its like bragging about winning a race when the other competitors have already been shot dead before starting.

I’d like to get Splash Damage’s comments on this momentous F-UP but I’m guessing they are busy hard at work trying to fix their inherently faulty game.

I had lots of respect for Splash Damage as a UK developer, but seriously?

Good luck selling your next development, you are REALLY going to need it.

Note to Fan Boys - Jog On - And YES I did enjoy getting this off my chest so you can stare at my wall of text - hugs and kisses x

Excuse you? None of my UK friends had any problems buying this game on Steam.

(shibbyuk) #3

Search the store - it isn’t listed!

(Capper) #4

Then I can only assume all of your friends pre-ordered the game.

Not even PCGamer have managed to buy it on STEAM:

http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/05/13/brink-disappears-from-european-steam-store-customers-unable-to-activate-retail-copies/

And this is STILL unfixed.

Splash Damage - A UK developer - Uninterested in a UK fanbase.

Ummmmmmm where do you get your info guy?! PS3 is up and running pretty much everywhere in the world and the online store will be up by end of the month and that just means pre-order codes will be a while. Havnt had a single PS3 friend have trouble gettin online thus far or having trouble getting onto Brink…

And with your only two post on these forums so far being making this thread and commenting here i question why you even bothered to make an account or share your thoughts. This is an obvious attempt at troll/flame bait and its only purpose is to make people bicker and fight about personal preferance and fanboy bull…

Interesting. Is this game cross-platform?

Clearly you know every PS3 user in the world then my IQ-challenged friend.

I can assure you this is not not an attempt to flame, or make people bicker. I am simply interested in the thoughts of the Splash Damage community as to the claims of microsoft and the issues surrounding the unavailability of the game for UK users.

You are not from the UK, this thread does not concern you, post your concerns elsewhere as YOU are clearly the troll here.

There’s a comparison of 360 v ps3 version here http://www.lensoftruth.com/head2head-brink-analysis/

Looks like the xbox version got the rough end of the stick compared to the ps3 version.
Even though i won’t be buying this game on 360 i do feel it’s a shame that 360 owners have to put up with what seems a shoddy version on their console.

Considering how sales usually are on 360 and with games usually selling better on the xbox360, you have to feel that 360 owners deserve a bit better than their port of brink.
If i had bought this on 360 i’d be feeling a bit miffed at the moment.

Yeah nice try Douche Bag. I said “…pretty much everywhere in the world…”, how is that me knowing everyone??? and to top this off and keep it short. The UK is only one of many areas in the world and by far not the leader when it comes to game sales so to make an entire thread about solely the concerns of UK gamers without specifiying shows who is the close minded troll here…

Capper = Epic Fail

(Capper) #10

At no point have I stated that the UK are market leaders in the sale of games, however they have a LARGE IMPACT. Your belief that I am unentitled to make a post relating to UK users simply makes you sound like an idiot. Take your flame elsewhere.

(Oschino1907) #11

Wow you sure must be handiCAPPER, where did i ever say that, you love making up things and claiming i said them…

But lets take an exact qoute from you “You are not from the UK, this thread does not concern you, post your concerns elsewhere…”, well to me it sounds like you made a thread for ONLY THE OPINIONS OF UK GAMERS but did not specify it at all until after being called out on it. To me it comes of as you assuming the WORLD IS THE UK, and any open ended comment it obviously gearded toward those from your area and no one else at all…

Just stop before you dig a hole too deep and ruin all if any credibility that you have.

(Oschino1907) #12

I guess we were all supposed to know “Xbox v PS3 v PC” really meant “Some UK gamers are having problems getting online and purchasing the game, how is it working out for YOU IN THE UK!!!”

You obviously must not own a PS3. Finally a game where the xbox is ****ted on and the PS3 isnt. Seriously, pretty much all cross console games are geared towards the xbox. Its a slap in the face to PS3 owners, each should have its own development teams. Exclusives on the PS3 always look/play way better than any exclusive on xbox. And before you cry fanboy, yes I own both. And not to mention at least 6 xboxs since 2005 because they are made so terrible. I own 2 PS3s and both are original and never had to be replaced.

(drkmn302) #14

i wouldnt go by what they sold go by whats been sent back !! does it really matter what format sold out the other lol…have to say it ppl ITS A GAME on a console thats all!! it matters to the companies but to players hmmm nope!!

(fearlessfox) #15

I’ve a feeling the Brink might miraculously appear on Steam to time with a patch that gets rid of most of the glaring flaws. I can imagine it’ll be around the same time as a free weekend.

(theorigin) #16

Maybe you cant find it in the store or news because of Brink got a FULL SCREEN HEADLINE ADVERTISMENT wich covers the whole screen/background?!

Oh btw… PC > all.

The UK PC only delay, the ATI bugs, the sound bugs, the inability to resell the game if I don’t like it 'cause it’s on Steam, the lack of a demo, the lack of an SDK, the lack of any reviews from an opinion I trust have all caused me to hold off on buying the game for at least a few weeks*.

Not sure how common that response is, though.

*Also the dodgy gameplay decisions, but let’s not go into that here.
