There are several possible explanations:
i go with option 2. however, if it’s avilable in april i guess i’ll have to get some $#!tty gold membership. damnit!
Gold membership isn’t required for most demos, but you won’t be able to play with friends is all.
Just thinking of the possibility of a demo this soon has me walkin’ on sunshine. Yeeeaaah! and don’t it feel good!!
That’ll be a thriving community playdate! Consists of the members of Splash Damage who own 360’s, I assume?
found this one too. i’m starting to believe that this all isn’t true. why would chicks get to play brink earlier? it doesn’t make any sense at all.

To be honest i never even knew that there were community events like this that microsoft organises. Are they popular?
Their is a process that you can do to organize your own through Microsoft. A bunch of guys last summer did a community play date for Shadowrun, a game released 5 years ago.
That’s what makes me believe its a typo/misinterpretation.
Also, depending on the game, popularity is a hit or miss although they do advertise it on the dashboard near playtime.
I’m pretty sure brink had a speculative release of April 12th. Best Buy and IGN both had an April release date listed. It was probably based off of this, obviously the community play dates will be pushed back till after the actual release.
FYI Best Buy currently has Brink’s release date listed for 5/31/11. I don’t see why these companies can get this right.
I really wouldn’t go about holding your breath guys. It’d be bloody awesome if it was true, but the amount of dates that have gone around on unofficial sources is ridiculous. Until Badman announces it in a new thread I wouldn’t believe anything.
Developers need to comment. My best guess is if ANY of this is accurate. Then the release of a demo would be the 1st of april or the 10th.
This. The dates are probably wrong. Microsoft isn’t exactly known for accuracy on their website info for the 360.
They are community play sessions that happen for some games AFTER they come out. They are just notifications of “gamer nights” for people who own the game. Developers or gamer groups can organize specific dates to participate in play sessions and have them advertised on the 360. Gamerchix does them all the time for different FPS games, as they apparently will with Brink at some point.
I don’t see any way at all this has anything to do with a demo in the least, just erroneous list dates. Even if it said May 22nd and 30th or something it still wouldn’t have anything to do with a demo. Community nights are specifically for people who own the games and only happen after release.
Wishful thinking has trumped common sense in this case I am afraid.
I would love to see a demo but I can’t see any way this would be a hint in that regard.
Marketing-View: Releasing a demo one month before Full-Version isn’t so bad idea. So surely possible.
I’m really sure that about half / one year ago, someone of the devs said once that a demoversion would be released BEFORE the full-version.
But don’t hype. We will know it soon
Brink’s release date is unchanged - May 17 for the US, May 20 for Europe/Australia, and May 26 for Japan. This is likely a miscommunication. Sorry folks!
