Xbox 360: Is The Lag Supposed To Have Been Fixed Now?

(Vanchatron) #1

I purchased Brink the day it came out and have been playing the Singleplayer missions so far, which is what I usually do with every FPS which has an online mode. I get the campaign out of the way & then focus on the multiplayer aspects of the game.

Anyway… I was reading thread after thread about the lag which people have been experiencing and whilst reading through I couldn’t help but think “Really? Surely people are overreacting in regards to this lag etc”, but then again I couldn’t comment because I hadn’t tried it online yet.

I then read that a patch had been released which was supposed to have taken care of the lag, and I thought “Great!”.

Having just beaten the campaign I decided to try out the online play about 20 minutes ago, and from the moment I got into the game, my player was lagging all over the place. I literally couldn’t move of my own accord & had to leave several minutes later due to it. I know it’s nothing to do with my Firewall or anything like that, as my Xbox says my Nat is “open”, having forwarded my Xbox’s ports etc before.

So my question is, is the patch that was released supposed to have fixed the lag? If so, why am I experiencing ridiculous amounts of lag? Saying the game is “unplayable” online really is the truth. I was reading people saying it was unplayable over & over, and was just thinking “I doubt it”, but now that I’ve experienced it for myself, I can honestly say that they are telling the truth.

Oh and I’m not a “CoD fanboy” either. I’m more than willing to keep the game if they sort the lag out.

I have yet to be able to complete a multiplayer game on the xbox as it lags out. It is definitely not fixed - you’re not the only one!

Its a lagstorm right now.
Unplayable

There was no patch per se. No it wasn’t meant to fix the lag, it was to band aid it until they could properly fix it, basically think of it as a ‘detour’ the system now tries to match you based on ping. But as a patch? This is not it, it should be still coming.

50% of matches with me dont lag. but i have a 4mb/s download(not loads, but its ALL mine!)
and it lags severely round mid day but at night/ mornin it doenst. wtf. Is it like i can connect better with america than my next door neighbur?

There was a update, but all it did was make it so that in public matches(dunno about competitive playlist) are now 4v4, with bots filling up the other slots. Play Old Skool playlist, or private matches.

How can you tell when bots are in the game? I never know who’s a real player & who’s a bot on the scorecard.

Press start and look at the player screen in game. If a player name has a colored bar next to it, then it’s a user.

Aah OK, thank you very much.

I’m assuming the colours are based on their ping then? E.g. Green, Yellow, Red?

Play in the Competition play list. There is a lot less laggy games there.

I always just press start to see if there is players in my game, I think a lot of the people who think, Splash damage, fixed the lag don’t know their playing with bots sometimes.(until they realize how fixated they are on secondary objectives)

Lag comes in bunches for me. Sometimes games are unplayable. Other times I can play 8v8 with no lag at all, mostly the latter. I hope they get things smoothed out soon. I REALLY like this game.
