(Xbox 360) Controller suggestion

(IndyJones) #1

Hello, here is my controller layout suggestion to use with ET

  • Left stick
WASD movement, with push zone detector (if you move the stick slightly, you would walk just when holding capslock instead of full speed)

  • Left stick button
Sprint. Sprinting stopes when player don’t move (this way we don’t have to hold the button all the time).

  • Right stick
    Mouse movement, looking around, aiming.

  • Right stick button
Switching to weaponbank 1 and “firing”, therefore a “knife attack button”, when held.

  • Back button
    TAB, high score.

  • Start button
Limbo. Hold it to go to “escape menu”.

  • Left trigger
As there is no iron sight in ET, I’d recommend changing the cg_fov to like 65 when the trigger is held, and going back to (user) default when released. When the trigger is held, mouse sensivity would be set to diffrent (user) level, for better aiming.
The fov change would be done smoothly (something like +zoom in Quake 3). Perhaps a “script/bind” that would change the fov from (user) default like 100 to 65, but going thru 100, 95, 90 (…) 65, 60 withing a half sec.

  • Right trigger
    Shooting!

  • A button
    Jump.

  • B button
    Toggle crouch, hold to prone.

  • X button
Reload, hold for weaponbank 6 (dynamite, satchel).

  • Y button
Scroll between weaponbank 2 and 3 (two “default” guns).

  • Left bumper
When held, switch to weaponbank 5 and “shoot” (so quick MEDIC revive/ENGINEER pilers/FIELD OPS airstrike marker/COVERT OPS smoke grenade button)

  • Right bumper
When held, switch to weapobank 4 and “shoot” (quick grenade throw)

  • Directional pad
UP arrow: team voice chat “I need a medic”.
RIGHT arrow: team voice chat “I need ammo”.
LEFT arrow: alternative fire (putting scope on, taking on/off the silencer, putting grenade on garand etc).
DOWN arrow: USE/push button. Hold for binoculars.

NOTES:
The layout should be flexible, and also have an option to configure it per class/weapon. For example, when I’m using sniper, I’d prefer to have the zoom option under left trigger instead of left arrow.

Rumble:
The joystick shall vibrate, when player gets hit and is shooting, fall and loose hp, when the screen is shaking (ie being in range of explosives).

Any suggestions? I tried this layout in-game, seems to be pretty good and handy.

All that is needed is a Coder to implant Xinput in ET/RTCW

Return to Castle Wolfenstien: Single Player would be a Good game for the Xbox 360 Controlller

indeed. this is just a layout recommendation
some of these functions can be already achieved with et using xpadder, however, it is a little buggy…

Or we could just make it configable.

A premade setting is always good for those who just start to game without going into the controll settigns.

Ofc it would be good to make it configable
