Worldwide Gaming Network (WWGN) is relaunching their site and to kick it off, we are holding a prefab contest, organized by your very own CapslockTrojan.
Here are the contest rules:
---- Worldwide Gaming Network Prefab Contest ----
To help kick off the relaunching of the Worldwide Gaming Network (WWGN) we are announcing a new prefab contest.
1. Overview
Prefab Type: Any prefab not requiring a .script file
Submission Deadline: May 15th, 2005
Award Deadline: Approximately 2 weeks after submission deadline
Prizes: The respect of your peers
Display Format: Submitted prefabs (.bsp and .map) will be inserted into a display map for public viewing and download
2. Categories
a. Buildings (Ex: bunkers, houses, fences)
b. Weapons and Ordnance (including tanks and static vehicles)
c. Furnishing (Ex: Beds, lamps, couches)
d. Equipment (Ex: Generators, cranes)
e. Other. (Anything not fitting the above categories)
3. Submission Guidelines
a. File Format and Naming Convention:
Participants must submit a .pk3 file with a .map file of your prefab and all associated assets. Assets should be placed in the appropriate folders, e.g., /textures, /models, etc. Use the following format for naming your .pk3, .map, and appropriate folders: [name]_[name of prefab]. For example, if I submit a bunker prefab with custom textures, I would submit a .map named capslock_bunker.map with the custom textures located inside /textures/capslock_bunker.
b. Triangle Count
There's no set count for prefabs, but part of the scoring will be overall usefulness and applicability. Larger, more specialized prefabs are harder to use than smaller, more general prefabs, but we will accept all submissions.
c. Screenshot
Participants must submit a 300 x 400 jpg screenshot of the prefab, annotated with the name of the prefab and author. This will be put up onto a summary website so that people can see what has been submitted and get a preview your work.
d. Display Map
- We have created a simple display map, into which all of the submissions will be placed for easy of viewing and judging. The display map can be downloaded from [http://mapping.hastalapasta.nl/files/pfb/pfb_contest.rar] and consists of 4 display arenas.
- Download the display map and build/import your prefab into the arena in which you want it displayed. Select your prefab then select Edit:Save As Prefab and name it according to the naming convention listed is section 3a. This will help us make sure we get your prefab into the right display arena.
e. Multiple Entries
- You can submit one entry per category, but we highly encourage everyone to submit as many prefabs as you are willing to contribute.
- You may submit a single .map file, but any assets should be in seperate folders.
4. Judging
This is still be finalized, but we would like to judge entries based on both a panel of judges and community feedback. The tentative scoring criteria will be:
- Originality
- Workmanship
- Scaling
- Usability
- Aesthetics
- WW2 relevance
- Texturing
5. Post Submission Timeline.
Once the deadline for submissions has passed, we expect approximately to take approximately 1 week to get screenshots uploaded and prefabs imported into the map. At this point, the display file will be made available for public public download and judges will have approximately a week to review the submissions and pick their favorites. Lastly, a couple of days to compile the results and announce winners.
6. Contact. All questions and submissions can be directed to CapslockTrojan at:
