Wut If: Smaller player models and hitboxes?

What if the players (models/hitboxes) and AoE was all 33% smaller but had the same movement speed? Maps (well, some of them) feel small for the max player count and, even though my aim is ***** now, movement feels slow… perhaps limited to match the map sizes.

:goliathspin:

Seriously, a mod server with 33% smaller players/hitboxes and AoE. You know you want to try it, SD! Something seems off from the adrenaline rush of good ETQW firefights and I don’t think it’s just my skill.

(yes, I realize this would break a lot of stuff like cover and gun emplacements but betas are meant to be broken! particularly betas with lots of different servers.)

With the max player count being a concern to you, have you tried playing on Stopwatch servers?

As for the speed of movement, there’re a few things to bear in mind:

[ul]
[li]Smaller Mercs are faster
[/li][li]You run faster with your knife out
[/li][li]Upping your FoV in the game settings will increase the impact that Merc speed has on you
[/li][/ul]

While some people still want things to be faster after taking the above into consideration, plenty of people have really enjoyed the benefits that the above brings.

I bet money on it that youd see the server wasteland again. A few like it, vast majority doesnt.

I love my Rubik’s Cube, but for some reason most people don’t get along with it too well.

Well, if custom content is actually going to be supported (I have doubts) then maybe a modder will work on making the game more of an arcade shooter down the road. I do not understand your analogy but that’s okay.

Yeah. Tried that and played a lot more. Well, I’ve come to terms with the fact that this is a much slower, more pop military shooter than the mil/arcade shooter mix of ET:QW. Also went back to ET:QW because it’s still there, still delightfully fast and damage, both incoming and outgoing, feels so consistent in comparison. Hopefully that last point is something that will be ironed out even if the speed is part of targeting a broader demographic. Anyway, I’m digressing from the topic.
