Wtf was that?

(MatthiasK75) #1

anyway, disregard the overly dramatic title. What the heck is up with this?

in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OLOttHhyNp8 at about 0:50 seconds, if you watch his engineer symbol, the circle reloads itself, why? i dont think he buffed his gun, because its not glowing as well as still prompting him to press down on the stick to buff it, anyway got an idea?

(H0RSE) #2

Well, he obviously did something (looks like to himself) because his gun goes off-screen as well.

(Cankor) #3

Maybe he buffed his own damage?
edit: hmm, gun doesn’t glow gold though…

(Bodo_Fraggins) #4

Isn’t it just the timer popping up to show how much time there is to disarm a planted charge?

(MatthiasK75) #5

thats what i thought, but its still prompting him to buff his gun, and its not glowing like it is later in the video

(H0RSE) #6

He thought of that, but like he said, his gun wasn’t glowing afterwards.

Maybe he had to scratch his ass.

(MatthiasK75) #7

upper left not right

EDIT: i also thought maybe he switched gun, but then switched back midway through, but when he switches to his shotty a few seconds later it doesnt do it

(Cankor) #8

watch the engineer symbol in upper left corner (next to health).

yeah, thought the same thing, he doesn’t switch until he jumps off the ledge.

I love a good puzzle!

(Linsolv) #10

The gun is rather amber for the 2-odd seconds you can see it. But that’s not really proof of anything.

(Cankor) #11
He thought of that, but like he said, his gun wasn’t glowing afterwards.
Yeah, guess he did (didn’t read his post far enough).

I wonder if it does that when your pip re-charges. Notice it happens again when he is revived, and he had a pip fill up just before it did that each time.

edit: guess not, at 2:15 a pip re-charges without it. Maybe something to do with health boost (no message because he was already full?). thes second time coincided exactly with his revive.

(BioSnark) #12

Screen shake is an explosion.

(CapnHowdy21) #13

The engineer symbold refills, no idea what it his he did.

Health does not change. Ammo did not reload. Hes supply meter neither went up or down. Amount of ammo didn’t change. No changes to type of gun or grenade. No changes to mini-map. The smart indicator didn’t show up.

Only thing I can think is that he buffed the guy next to him(who glows yellow). However I was under the assumption that used supply.

If you follow for about 15 secs you’ll see he switches gun and the engineer symbol doesn’t change. However at about 1:04 he switches to something and back to his gun real quick and it does change.

It also is not grenade throwing. Only thing I can think of is was he was pulling out an engineer specific item and change his mind.

(Crytiqal) #14

Maybe he buffed someone else his weapon? And there is a cool-down period?

Dunno rly

EDIT:
I think he buffed the weapon of Nasehi

(IceBrazuca) #15

Flashbang effect.

When it finishes going around you are no longer being affected by the flash.

(Crytiqal) #16
Flashbang effect.

But there is another grenade a few seconds after that and it doesn’t spin round,
then the grenade explodes and only AFTER then it spins around real fast again.

It’s inconsistent

(Shadowcat) #17

Looks to be from the normal concussion grenades. When it happens at :50, there’s a grenade thrown and the moment the icon dissapears, he can no longer shoot (gun gone) and the timer starts. Same thing moments later under the pipe. Its possible that the grenade in-between just wasn’t close enough.

(crazyfoolish) #18

Then why does the icon have a picture of a wrench? As Crytiqal says, i think he buffed nasehi’s gun.

(BioSnark) #19

thought it was the explosion effect but it doesn’t happen when everyone gets nuked by the door so might not be. it’s the same effect as when jolly buff’s his gun but I don’t think it happens when he buffs his teammates gun in the pax video. maybe it happens elsewhere in that video. don’t have time to find my detective hat atm

(H0RSE) #20

The wrench image is just a class icon. Since the player is an Engineer, the icon is a wrench. No matter what he was doing (or not doing) Engineers will always have that image displayed at the top.
