working on custom player model

(ikanatto) #1

Hi there.
I should apologize my poor English first. :eek2:
I have read the threads about player models in ET and knew that the format of players is not mds(RtCW) but mdm and mdx.
Much suggestion on mdm and mdx was told by ppl, so I tried to analyze mdm and mdx.
Yes, I have analyzed mdm and mdx successfully. There are a few difference between mds and mdm&mds.
Thus I decided to make a mds-to-mdm converter, because mds can be made now with 3ds max and other tools.
Ya, I have made the mds-to-mdm converter, but it is so cheap that may collapse the models. :moo:
Need more work on this!
Here is a pic that Axis soldier wears suit. This guy comes from RtCW, yes, Jack. I have converted him into ET but his head is another one!

Here is pk3 that you can see him in your ET.

I wonder when official tools for medels will release.

Awesome. Maybe the near-impossible feat of importing a model into an RtCW game will become a bit more mainstream.

Good work, the player-skin looks like Mafia!

I have a question.
Is there any problems to convert mds models of RtCW into ET?
I think RtCW’s model data belongs to the id software & etc. so converting them could violate their copyrights?
Eeek, I can be a criminal. :bash:

OMG, They have released the document about model data…now my work is not needed.
Now, anyone who has 3ds max and animation studio can export mdm and mdx with using command line options of buildmds.
This is great.

I’d like to know this info before I… eh, nothing…

(No1_sonuk) #7

I’d like to know how to do this. Are the tools available, and where?

(RR2DO2) #8

The tools are not available yet, the buildmds and skelout tools mentioned in the document are newer versions than the versions released for RtCW.

(ikanatto) #9

Oh, I had misstaken it could. my fault.

Then I would like to know how can I export mdm and mdx properly.
http://www.splashdamage.com/files/docs/playermodels.html
Reffering above doc, I think that exporting mdm or mdx requires:
(i) 3ds max and animation studio plugin
(ii) NEW VERSION .exporting skl plugin
(iii) NEW VERSION buildmds programm
uOf course skill and endurance[/u]
any errors or lacks?

…anyway when are the new tools for exporting mdm and mdx released? or they wont come to us?
