We are ALL very sick of the SEXIST game industry never including female character models (why we quit MW2 and are turning to Halo Reach) My wife and I and her friends (all gamer girls) were looking forward to this game when we found out- NO GIRL CHARACTER MODELS!, They brag about being one of the most advanced in the industry in terms of character creation and customization, yet no option to play as a female. Now games like say, Splinter Cell Conviction, are “SOMEWHAT” understandable it is mostly single player, with the option for a leaner co-op with the lead characters buddy. But in a game designed around the very idea of customization?, it just seems, well, like they deliberate ignored their female demographic, because they felt they did not matter. Tell you what, add female character models, or my group walks, and we will take as many with us a s we can. I hate to be like this, but the gaming industry has made it clear if we don’t stand up, they will continue to laugh at this issue. Some guys don’t get this issue, yet if ALL of your favorite games, even those that had FULL character Customization forced you to be female, you would eventually be upset, and feel a little left out. Woman want to celebrate their feminism just as much as we want to celebrate our masculinity. I hope others stand up for this instead of doing the typical “Praise game makers, for they give us our digital food, QUESTION THEM NOT!” and actual pass this a long. It is a while till the game comes out, and this could be fixed. Pretty bad when the game industry is SO sexist towards woman, that it offends the guys!

Yep, you hit the nail on the coffin! The reason there are no female player characters is because the developers are all sexist - even the female ones. They are also racist, homophobic satanists. The real reason the game got pushed back is actually because they couldn’t find enough goats to sacrifice…
If you’re gonna stop playing a game, because it has no female characters, that’s your own business, but to just play the “sexist” card, without doing research into the real reason, is just ignorant.

There are still females on the Ark - just no female PLAYER characters. The Human race will be fine.
I’m not going to look at statistics so anyone who knows different please feel free to set the record straight but I would assume that the vast majority of all game developers are men, for example is there any female developers at SD? Now if more women would start to pursue a career in making games to make the male to female ratio more equal in the industry then it is logical to assume that this would eventually imprint itself on the decisions what tend to keep female characters out of games such as this. For example would 10 men come up with the same decision about adding female characters to a game as 5 men and 5 women would?
That’s what I was thinking. Hire more females, and developers would actually try to have a workaround into having female characters without sacrificing anything.
I also find a difference in culture between Japanese gamers and Western gamers.
Western gamers kind of treat the character they play as themselves. They would whine that they don’t get to play as a female, because being a male isn’t really who they are.
Japanese gamers treat the character they play as another member of their team. They don’t treat the character they play as themselves, which is why FPS games are so unpopular in Japan. Also, the Japanese have no problem playing as characters as the opposite gender as long as the stats for that character is good, and fits the playstyle of the player, as in the case of males using chun li in street fighter.
I always try to get the Japanese mindset into people’s heads when topics like these come up. Don’t be the character. Be a friend of the character. You are you. You aren’t the character. You only control the character via input commands.

Now, speaking of sexism, I wonder what people would think if the light - medium body were female and the medium - heavy body were male? Would that also be considered sexist?

Speaking as a woman… I’m INTENSELY OFFENDED that men are SO OFFENDED that there are no women in Brink.
Women can’t have muttonchops, therefore, I am thankful that muttonchops win over female characters 
Are you serious? You’re going to try to sink a game and turn people away from it just because it wasn’t made to your liking? Rather than coming in here and posting your one and only post as the inflamitory thing that it is, why don’t you use the “search” button to see if this has been discussed before.
As has been mentioned before in this thread, there is a lot of discussion on the topic and why it’s been omitted already. Me and my g/f were disappointed when we found out there would be no female characters, but that isn’t going to stop us from enjoying the game when it comes out!
LyndonL that’s the best thing he said, a gaming community doesn’t need someone like that in it… hissy fit cos they don’t get what they want. Apparently they quit MW2 because it had no females… nothing to do with the gameplay, didnt like the maps, not even a protest at the high DLC pricing, no… because it didn’t have females! lol
I could care less if he leaves, but trying to get others to boycott too… that’s just childish.
the only sexist here is you. simply because in opposite to others it’s important to you what sex you play. i couldn’t care less if i play a man, a woman, a tapir or a monkey as long as the game is entertaining.
Well it reminds me that the Dev said once on this forum that making female skin would cost a lot, and take 6 month to do… And this was before the 6 month delay (september->March) we have now.
I really wish to see women in the game and not by a DLC… So I’m still dreaming (and being aware of that) that the 6 month delay we have mow may be a surpise from Splash, with a preview in february telling us, “Looks!! Chicks are here”… But as I said this is much more wishfull thinking, taking fact and using them as I want to see them, than a real “information”.

It would’ve been great to have females in Brink, granted, but constraints are there for a reason. I support SD’s decision even if it’s not my preferred choice. Not that I would play a chick, but it’s nice to see other things than testosterone-filled men running around.
