I talking about to make a try to make a game from java 3d or unity?

My post was about this part. The engine will see a new Wolf game, it is in pre-order at the moment, so not that old :slight_smile:

From the same period in 90’s you have the Unreal Engine, and you have the 4 now.

From the end of 90’s you have Source, Source 2 is in dev.

And look at the alternative renderers, by Berserker, by ioRtCW, by ET:L, by Unvanquished (they even removed the vanilla one)…

Java isn’t designed for games and will never see a good quality one (look at Minecraft suffer) :slight_smile:
Unity has potential, but code the iD Tech physic system in it…
Look at Rage videos doing the Quake jumps!
Wolf TNO devs never said no to MP, I posted something about that in the Offtopic Chat part, there could be hope there :slight_smile:

They would know. But it is a main profit of making a free game. Everybody interested in UE4 will see features of the engine in a real game, not some demo. Do you really think a big company would make a completely free game just to please players? They would not do a thing if they weren’t sure their profit.

Well they can only “win” with this behavior, on both points: please fans and attract (more) devs :slight_smile:

It will not be the console port UT3 was, and they may grab some Quake players (heard some old Quake peeps are in).

Just realized that The new order is using id tech 5!!!
Id isnt dead!

But it should be cool to see a new ET from that engine :slight_smile:

whatever betasheda and machinegames dont answear questions or other things…

The quality (or not) of the game wasn’t in question, more the limitations of the technology, usability, speed of development, performance, eye candy, etc.

Java is made to run on all PC supports, with a virtual machine handling lot of stuff for the devs; So run a 3D thingy on a virtual machine not optimized for gaming… Heh. They coded Minecraft in Java because it’s a language easier than some others.

There are several “copies” in C++ or in Unity (saw a contest like “Code Minecraft in a week in Unity”, lel) which run far better in term or performances (uses less resources and run at a better frame rate) :slight_smile:

Guys, A new engine? I don’t get it, The et engine people say is pretty crap? Just the feeling of a new engine would mean new upgrades for everyone. I don’t think the engine is the issue! I think what ET needs is a profile based support, Like achievments, stats recorder for most kills gibs, acc etc, would stop people who are banned just reconnecting with new name/ip what i mean is.

No New Engine for gods sakes!

maybe a good easy setup (alot of coding)

For gameplay, Better rendered textures, more real sounds, movement animations, a new map rotation. ET leader board ingame, rewrite the configs provided by et for better gameplay such as low machines, high machines.

Anticheat streaming for the servers using the login system. Not punkbuster but something the community can control themselfs

And I mean, yes this would be hard to do, I would absolute love to do this but no I don’t have the skills to do all of this!

Honestly If you are interested in getting together, Those who are willing to do this, contact me! And those who don’t like the idea, well thats fine, but its better than just switching a game over to a new engine which is nothing much new. Maybe it looks good but it won’t look good for everyone?
