With regard to brink's "release date"

(mattchoo8t8) #1

Dear Splash Damage,

You may recognize this post from the brink forum, fyi.

I feel like it has been about a year and a half since I first heard about BRINK. I have sat in the corner, bursting with excitement, ever since. Being that your current release date is still very vague, I am sure what I am about to say really won’t have too much of an impact. Regardless, I am going to say it anyway.

Please, take all the time you need to make this game. Don’t rush it out on my behalf. Sure, I don’t want to have to wait, and I certainly wouldn’t like to hear about it being bumped back for a quarter or two, but I’ll be fine. you guys are on the cusp of releasing a truly astounding game, I know it, and I would hate for it to be sullied by moving too quickly. take your time, polish it up, make it everything you want it to be because the short of it is, I don’t want to be disappointed.

I am hedging my bets on you. I believe that you are on the “brink” of a revolution. gaming has become stagnant, but out of the muck a beacon of light shines through. Praises aside, I am looking forward to your game, and firmly believe that BRINK will cement your place in gaming history.

Don’t F*** it up by releasing it too early.

Sincerely,

Red O Magnus

Welcome to the forums
I have to watch gameplay vids everyday just to keep myself sane
It does feel a long time coming to fruition as you say, can’t wait myself

too early? The game is scheduled for release 2 times, I don’t want 3-rd, it will feel like “Revolution will never begins”. I can understand why the SD don’t want release it now, in fall 2010, new CoD, MoH, its realy not a best time, but spring is just perfect.

(SebaSOFT) #4

Agree, Spring seems about right, also a lot of cool expos to advertise, right Bethesda?

(darthmob) #5

Full ack! Better a late release than promising so much goodness and failing to deliver it.

(Nikto) #6

everyone knows those asking for bethesda/splash damage to release it early are the first ones that will be complaining when it’s full of bugs

(Stray) #7

I hope that the exact release date will be announced this year?

(Wraith) #8

Nothing like irony

Finger’s crossed.

(Achtung) #9

Worse than no proper release date. There is now some sites that post a Jan 1 date, which im sure is bs.

i agree that you release when ready but one thing i will say is if you spend too much time trying so hard to make something the best you can, then your more than likely to mess it up.

i dont know, but im guessing we have all tryed to hard on something and in the end screwed up something good…

Don’t include others in your mistakes . . .

And

Please let the best competition multiplayer game developers do their thing, the game is done when it’s done!

Personally I’m pre-ordering 2 copies, 1 for steam (digital purchase) and another one retail version from amazon, the intention is to use the retail version to let my Friends play the game.

Pre-ordering is actually a way of allowing a game to be released more polished and possibly with more maps and features like Software Development Tools.

(KnollDark) #12

its definatly better for them to wait, not because theres to much compitition cuz lets be honest brink would win with enough left to vault another lap, but if you look at the latest brink demo on gametrailers http://www.gametrailers.com/video/pax-10-brink/705430
and the original container city demos on brinkthegame.com they have made alot of progress

also quick question i’ve been asking the game is going to be 8 players max but if you look at container city in the beginning we see 3 AI characters, so will the game be 7 vs 7 with 3 AI on each team or 4 vs 4 and the AI disappear after setting the stage

(Nail) #13

8 vs 8, made up of either bots and/or people

I tihnk it was Neil that said it in the latest interview round that nothing’s been added for months. So it’s in the final stage which means it’s not being over done.

(Crytiqal) #15

They are just playing the game to become pro, so once they release it they can actually own the players instead of with ETQW where the devs sucked at the game :stuck_out_tongue:

j/k

(DouglasDanger) #16

I think it was Neil who mentioned the game is currently in beta, in one of the many, many interviews that came out of EGE.
