Wishing to convert Goldrush to CoD: Revolt Mod

(BrOkEn) #1

Couldn’t find an e-mail with witch to contact Splash Damage, so I decided to post here.

I am interested in converting Goldrush to Call of Duty: Revolt Mod. Check out Revolt’s site at http://www.codmod.com. The map will not be an exact conversion, using different textures and changes to architecture, among other things, but much of the basic architecture and layout of the map will remain the same. I’m a pretty experienced mapper, and I will not make a mockery of this excellent map. I will give credit to Splash Damage in a readme, or on the map’s loadscreen if you see fit. Just thought I’d make sure that you guys were cool with me doing this.

Cheers mates :drink:

I think its up to activision afaik for that sort of stuff, not SD.

Well, technically, you CAN just build it from scratch and name it something different. So long as youve did all the work its yours. Its only a matter when paks are being ripped and textures used without permission/credits.

Have you thoroughly tested your tank and truck moving system yet? That’ll be the hardest part to do in MP CoD. Then you have to grapple with the multiple objectives issue.

TBH, you can only do it worse in CoD than ET. You might very well manage better skins/textures, but you’ll be screwed on gameplay and scripting. That’s one of the reasons PoP, and some other CoD mods, moved to ET.

Doubt the tank will be there… probs just the map itself… CoD uses non moving objectives. Eg, CS stylee plant and camp.

I downloaded the trailer for your mod, damn its looking good. I cant wait to play it, keep up the good work :drink:

(dling now woo)

Sonuk, it’s not going to have the tank moving/objectives/etc. Just the layout of the map.

And potato, I’m not on the Revolt dev team(atleast not yet), so the credit for the excellent mod is not mine

Not yet… someones anticipating.

We can’t give you permission to port Goldrush to Call of Duty. Activision might, but you’d have to ask them directly.

Shoehorning ET’s Goldrush map into another game with half the features missing isn’t going to impress anyone - unless you add improvements in other areas to balance the stuff you lose, and if you’re going to do that you may as well do a proper job of it and make an original map with the same theme.

Ok, thanks Wils. I’m just happy that you guys took the time to respond! Guess I’ll move on to a new project  :drink:

because ET pwns CoD

cod might look better but ET will always be better gameply and better features, CoD is just a Q3 MoH:AA
