What would you find inside the pack once you install brink?
And what are the best options u desire? Options means you can disable or enable them… ( read it again  )

I am a rtcw/et big fan. I am not telling that brink have to be like them BUT everyone must admit that the gameplay of them was a winning gameplay. Put selectable / deselectable options like the following wouldnt be that bad

If someone asked me “What do you expect from brink?” I would answer …

.First of all a fast gameplay: quakish style with smooth movements and jumps

.A good anticheat system. No punkbuster… THX

. 5-6 maps for the 6on6 (congrats for salvage and volcano… best maps i have ever played)

.I would be able to kill people with 3 headshots and 5 bodyshots

.I would be able to shoot from the hip while i strafe+sprint

.No weapon spread

.Almost perfect netcode that doesn’t unbalance who’s pinging low (an example overall… cod4 netcode is really, really good)

.To get with the game, brink’s tv and sdk

.Be able to record demos and render them easier than tech4 engine that was a pain in the ass

.Ready match and pause match buttons. Referee commands

PLEASE… I SAY PLEASE!!! This time don’t think only to the pubbers. There is a BIG part of players that play everyday actively on COMPETITIONS… Competitions are played on 5on5 and 6on6 on NORMAL maps…

this is all for me

NOW it’s your turn!

Hip shooting without spread?

Well let me wish the opposite then. I think the spread tweening might be a bit longer in ETQW so it gives the people who anticipate the fight a clear advantage over those runnergunners.

I would also wish for having toys that are able to incapicate the enemies in certain ways, like flashbangs, tear gas and smoke.

I also really loved the thermal scopes that could be customized onto weapons in Raven Shield. It allowed you to see vaguely through thin walls and such. Resulted in lots of new tactics.

tbh on quakewars vanilla i really hated the spread of the weapons… it ruined the game that was good till patch 1.4

it tries to add something “realistic” when a game is basically unrealistic

but anyways it’s your opinion

(darthmob) #4

Don’t expect such things or you will be disappointed! I doubt there will ever be another game with gameplay like in ET (most definitely not a AAA and multiplatform title).

That said I’d say I expect it to be a good game.

The first build of QW had messed up hitboxes, it had nothing to do with the way I suggested spread should work.

Gunsights add lots of depth to a game. I wish W:ET had it as well.

I play along although darthmob is right: Don’t expect or you will be disappointed!

If someone asked me “What do you expect from brink?” I would answer …

-Slow to medium paced gameplay, depending on bodytype.
I dont expect Quakish style at all.

-No “forced” ironsight and crouching

-Some little surprises. I just read that medics can revive in 2 different ways
and the heavy body type has some trick up his sleeve?

-Emphasis on close quarter fighting

-Very modest sniping

-Tapirs

-That the advantage of the light bodytype, more speed, isn’t quite worth the trade of less health and limited weaponchoice
(More a worry, not an expectation)

-Simply a fun, solid and good game.

-I also like the concept of the Ark, the flooding of earth ect. Who cares about a
backstory for FPS right, but I really like what they came up with.
It does add to my interest for the game in this case.

I just don’t get why they deceided to go with Brink when simply Ark is much cooler =D

I realise that this sort of thing will always be a question of preference and I respect your opinion as such, but I still couldn’t disagree more :p.

Coming from a background of enjoying fast, flowing movement in games whether it be Tribes (<3), quake, warsow or even mirror’s edge, I would love to see in Brink a movement system I can learn and put time into, just because it is satisfying to do so, yet still effective.

I don’t want the boring choice of “huge tank bastard who is harder to kill” to always triumph over the little skinny guy who can pull out all the cool moves.

By reference I’d point out something like TF2, which has a pretty solid movement:health balance between light (scout), medium (soldier) and heavy (gunner) in my opinion. Some times the gunner will always be the better choice and sometimes the scout will, but I never want one to totally preclude the other, especially if its what I regard as the less interesting of the two alternatives (heavy with health).

I trust SD not to cock up that sort of balancing but again it falls back to preference, opinion and (frankly) speculation. Personally I want Brink to be a game where fast intelligent and flowing movement is just as effective as being a big meatshield who can outsoak the enemy player.

(Senyin) #8

Zhou Yu, I think you misunderstood.
It’s not my opinion, it’s my concern

My interest lies in the light bodytype first and foremost (fast and flowing) but I’m
concerned I will feel forced to play medium or heavy, because the cons of Mr skinny will
outweigh the pro’s.

We are on the same page =)

(tokamak) #9

I certainly hope people won’t feel forced to play heavy, because then I can’t feel special and precious any more with my hulk.

I would wish for something new and fresh. A breath of fresh air with good game play and a quality story. Something with some style and with its own art to stand out from the crowd. Something to keep my attention… I am so tired of cookie cutter FPS, I know alot of ideas are used but there has to be SOMETHING that will make BRINK fresh. That is what I wish for.

I could care less about spread, netcode, bla bla, commands and all that jazz… Patches can come later. Give me a gun in a place that does not feel like a CSS/CoD4 remake and I will be a happy man.

i hate the tech4 hitboxes…

in wolfenstein there is the same problem… someone instakill you and someone keep shooting, hitting and killing noone

i think it’s a mix of sitty hitboxes plus sitty netcode.

i suppose and hope they fixed this stuff

(aimology) #13

You should see the wolfenstein hitboxs, while they are actually turned on / visual. Its sad. When someone steps to the left the box is about 1 inch behind them. When they come back to the right its in front of them. The boxes are all messed up. Terrible game. If it wasnt for the easy money at totalgamingleague.com tournament. I wouldnt be playing it. Game is complete garbage. Worst game by far I have ever played.

Its about the same level if not worse then combat arms. Which is FREE!!! Lol fail

i would basically love a shadowrun 2.0 that game is soo good online its unreal and i think Brink should follow a lot of its many footprints even down to the movement where you slide a tiny bit after running as the lightest class (elf), shooting is also great so when you crouch you have more accurate shots - i know this is in almost all games now but still. I seriously hope there will be weapon spread especially while running or strafing otherwise its guna end up a crazy unreal torni game and i hope Brink doesn’t go that way… sorry for keep going on about shadowrun i am just completely addicted to that game atm and to me it has significant similarities so im very excited

(.Chris.) #17

I wish the game will be fun, simple as that, couldn’t give rat’s arse if it’s like X game and not like Y game aslong as it’s fun.

(stealth6) #18

I think every game brings something ‘fresh’ but some things keep coming back and I love them evertime.
Like knifing people. That’s just the best part in a game, be it in ET when you send 10 seconds slowly creeping towards the enemy to get that knife kill or in a gunfight switch over to knife and backstab the enemy for getting too close.
Same for cod4 sprinting into a room running srtaight at the enemy watching them freak out like WTF and then stab them in the face hehe awesome.

And I’m actually hoping that they will find some new system for shooting. Cause 3 headshots for a kill and 5 body is just like ET and although it’s a great game, just isn’t gonna do it, but on the otherside zooming in with the iron sights evertime anoys the hell out of me.

But looking at the futuristic looking guns in BRINK I would think that the spread isn’t too high, I mean that’s even realistic. New guns are more powerful but also more accurate. If the miltary could make a gun that makes everything you point it at explode? Do you think they wouldn’t cause it doesn’t have enough spread hehe.

of course for a weapon like and mg42 or a minigun you need the spread to balance out the game.

(xXHugDangerXx) #19

For it to not feel like COD 2/3/4/5/6 there ok as SP games but IMO the multilayer sucks horribly.

Different game modes Objective/TDM/DM just so when I don’t feel like doing objectives I can keep playing the same game instead of loading something else up.

User Comps for extra clothing ect. (give the modding community a way to contribute on a official level)

Please release a decent game play vid! Its been ages now since all of the shows and game conferences and I still check here everyday…
Yeah I know a few people didn’t like them but I would love to see the return of a weapon like ET’s MG42.
If I remember the MG42 couldn’t head-shot so it didn’t rely on poor spread to balance it (also you have to lay down and stay still meaning you traded fire power for vulnerability)

(engiebenjy) #20

Indeed, although I do like the name brink too

I doubt this will be included because the whole “blurring the lines between offline and online” relys on the fact your playing the same game online that you were just playing offline.
