Wish List for Mappers

Well…i know a lot of ET mappers don’t care much for RtCW maps in general…and would rather make new ET style maps…but i think some maps should be ported over simply because they were the best and most balanced maps around.

these were by far my favorite maps produced on RtCW and with the new weapons/classes in ET i think they would be instant hits. Is anyone planning to port these classics…and if the authors are still around…do you plan on a recreation project?

well Drakir is still around but he is busy worknig on new projects i doubt that SD themselves will realeasy any new maps, and for somene to remake it it might be a copyright issue this has been discussed i don’t know what the verdict was in the end but if someone was to remake any of these maps they would have to ask the author’s permission!

I really have to wonder about the ET community. While MG might have been the best RTCW map ever, it’s a pretty straight forward (and popular) military event. There are literally dozens of sites on it that would provide more than enough research material for any half decent mapper to build it. The amount of effort in trying to “port” the Market Garden map from RTCW to ET seems to be incredible. If someone is interested, they could have spent 1/10th of that effort and built it by now, giving it that ET spin on it to give it a place in Enemy Territory history as an original piece of work instead of a regurgitated map from another game. Sorry, just my rant session for the night.

The only one I can think of I’d be happy to play in ET was possibly tundra (fun, although not particularly well done), and frostbite. and my own of course, but I’m updating them :wink:

The problem is, most RTCW custom maps were dire beyond belief.
I don’t really expect many custom ET maps to be otherwise, but I’d definately advocate going in new directions rather than regurgitating old ones.

People are crying out for more maps, but I don’t see how we will help by flooding ET with piss-poor RTCW maps - that’s what effectively killed off the RTCW custom map scene IMO, crap customs from start to finish.

I’m just hoping ET maps turn out a bit better :wink:

The custom community makes or breaks a game these day’s and sadly RtCW went down the latter path… I just hope everyone will learn from the mistakes in RtCW and ET will stay a strong game.

Hi Velorum.
Like i said in the PM, i have no plans to convert my maps to ET.
But exspect new Stuff for ET from me then i finished my current Map for rtcw. :slight_smile:

Maybe the RTCW “Market Garden” map should be ported to ET named “Arnhem” as a part of a “Market Garden” campaign covering some of the other bridges as well.
