I’m a little bit unsure what’s going on here.

Even if it would be “only” a huge graphical pack (and it looks like a good one).
It would be better than a coded mod (actually I would give nilius the suggestion to do so).
Because coded mods aren’t played (except Pro and Pub).

I’m thankfull that someone tries to give ET a new look.

On the website are some coded features mentioned (not sure if they are also on the english site).
So why don’t wait for the final release.
In the meantime you could give some helpfull critics.

And I wouldn’t talk abot PoP anymore.
They wanted to betray the W:ET community (that’s my view of things).
Leaving without telling anyone.

The W:ET modscene is very small.
And I think it will get smaller day by day now.
But instead to support each other here’s a fight going on.
Can’t believe this.

And btw nilius and Berzerkr are very actrive in the german community.
Both since a long time.

Actually this threat is showing that it’s not worth to do anything for the community.
It’s not honored at all.

actualy i welcome coded mods, but I feel they all just copy themselfs…
Best coded mods were ETPro and TCE IMO
Other mods are usualy plagued with supervariable settings, xpsave, shrubbot … etc…
My advice is simple: Don’t try to changing anything at all, if you change any texture or shader* make sure it is better and ask people who look as biggest whiners
Why? It is simple, people are usualy nice to you and they welcome any change, but “It’s great!” will not help you to improve your work…

*note: that editing shaders may be sometimes useful, do not blindly adapt your textures already done shaders, also check sourcecode/uifiles/done shader files/ models for shader names, sometimes texture defined in shader has diffirent name, if you have any problem with shaders just ask here, we ( or at least I ) will gladly help you
Pros of changing them:
*Replacing big opaque tgas with jpg
*Specifing surface effects - deforms (like waves, autosprite, or shadowprojection - flatted to ground ), - lighting ( diffuse, specular ) - other ( environment mapping, blending … ), texture coords editing ( scrooling, env map ) and much more
*cull and picmip settings, for example to make doublesided surfaces ( axis model skins - for coat )
Also for german players : you can make a translation, place translation.cfg to scripts directory
see sourcecode to look which strings in game are being translated ( there are lot of them - on hud text, vsays… )

The code for this funktion is now integrated. Thanks to Jaquoboss for the hint. We’re looking for people who translate ET² into French, Spain, Dutch, Italian and Swedish.

you can use translation files only for languages there, must change engine to allow more or build your own script
but this one is already integreted in ET so it doesn’t need to modify binaries
changing ui doesn’t hurt as it is almost same for most mods…

I asked this, becuase the Mod looks like a Skin/GFX/Sound Pack with UI Changes like HUD/Loading Screen. So it’s nothing more than etmain with few bugfixes and better graphics?

nilius had once an HD-crash, I got to much shiftworking in RL as to work in a team and the coder has gone. :expressionless:

Maybe is nilius working on a new mod (only graphic stuff), but can’t say for sure.
I did my best with ET:Revaluation, but without coding it’s not possible for anyone to build in all the stuff we want.

Well, take a look at East Front, there do an excellent job with their mod.
