WiP: Enemy Territory ²

We want to make this mod to realistic as even possible without a change of the gameplay itself.

Welcome to “Enemy Territory ²”. Here develops a unique version, so as we have Enemy Territory in our minds and we want to see it.

What will this mod include?
That is a good question, at the moment we cant give a clear answer. The conception of war in the actual sense has nothing in commin with wonderfull textures and clear water or maintained lanscapes. This let’s us space for a lot of new possibilities. As first thing we won’t to change the gameplay, we want to give ET a complete new look. Furter is planed to change the textures, skins, HUD, buttons and symbols.
What all will come along with it, only time will tell…

for me ET2 would be pretty much

coded

  • ETpro
  • Increased menu commands such as multiple sever search options like 0 - 100 ping and 12+ players
  • Built in suport for an online profile but only saving stats and name no imporvements to the player + clan tags
  • Search for the player profiles and a buddy/ignore list, PM messages with limited inbox

visualy

  • higher polly models to make better uses of higher procesing power computers
  • re texture mostly everyhting with textures that make better use of exotic shader comands bringing evey suface in the game to life
  • when i say re texture still keep the ET/rtcw look just add a few more realistic touches via shaders

maps

  • get the map source to some trusted and experienced mappers to inprove visualy and poor brushwork not properly done (lunch box on battery)
  • some new maps at least 3 that are on par with the stock ones and have a pretty identical gameplay style and time limit
  • spend a lot more time making stopwatch scripts for shorter matches so players dont have to sign up to a 1 and a 1/2 hour campain on defence

although i got say without altering the gameplay and if no new maps come then its looking to be a glorified skinpack

So…you’ve changed the colour of the menu and that warrants being called Enemy Territory 2?

I think ET2 would be much like FalconET is, new weapons, new moves etc etc.
Specialy the maps is a big aspect, try to make maps that continiue where the old ones ended (use parts of the stock maps and go on from there to make a new map. exsample:
What happends after Oasis, the anti-tank guns have been destroyed, a tank moves in… then what?? Maybe the allies most escort the tank to another part of the mapto blow someting up etc etc.

I don’t think any mod should carry the name ET2 tbh.

to be fair bacon does have a point

when SD were cooking up W:ET i doubt they got this ritious notin for a menu then built the game from there. a better place to start would be your gameplay and levels then when you have got the feel of the game them menu system can be made to give the same atmosphere as the actuly game

FalckonET (Now Wolfenstein: The Frontline) changes gameplay completely and is no mod as this one is intended. We’re going to rebalance most things though, as the current version has some gameplay flaws.

well since there is no gameplay changes just a few balance issues that will probably already be addressed in ETpro it is just skins

i realy dont think this qualifies as to being ET2

if there was some new limbo stuff that qualify a new menu then maby a differnt matter but this doesnt even seem to change the layout

Drop the ET2 name, its stupid and possibly against the wishes of id/SD

that is not ET 2 also ET²…I think there was probably a misunderstood. ET² is not a texture-pack, it’s going to be a total conversion. But the textures must be done. Please note that Alpha 0.1 is only a very small preview to show the upcoming style of the textures I have to made.

lol, a total conversion usually involves making a new menu, limbo and laod screen, thus the word ‘total’, so no use in skinnin the old menus just to have to replace them, or to just show off your new style, b/c what youve posted really conveys nothing about the mod :wink:

True, if what you have shown is all you got now, it is not worth the name Alpha. “First skins” would be more appropriate imho.

it does seem a strange place to start a total conversion on the menu screens. how do you even know the game behind them will fit when you have finished your work on the actual gameplay

Tweaked Menu Files seems to fit it even better…
