Anyone do the free update yet?

Didn’t think they were releasing it yet. Isn’t is only in preview still?

I will be updating the moment I get notified about it personally.

Summer just got an upgrade. ‪#‎Windows10‬ will release worldwide on July 29, 2015.

I think I’ll wait until any initial kinks are ironed out after the release.

But is it really free…

The intent is to get as much of of their systems/devices on the same OS as possible in as short a time as possible. It won’t be free forever according to the site. I assume they also intend to make up for any loss with profits from cloud based services and hopefully Windows Phone if that finally takes off.

This offer is really to get people off of Windows 7 more than it is to get people upgraded from Windows 8.

There’s now way I’m updating to the newest Windows from day 1. I’ll wait until all the problems are fixed(because there will be problems) and even then, i will consider it only if 10 is a significant upgrade from my 8.1.

its funny how even the illegal versions of windows will be eligible to upgrade to win10 for free
