"Win"-type credit missions

Win missions: “Win two games of Stopwatch” or 3 games of Objective.

I feel that this sort of mission will 1) make people stack and 2) make people leave games that they can’t win to find a new one. It is, IMO, pretty silly. It’s enough already to have the mission type where the only requirement is to play a number of games in each mode, as that’ll make players try new things.

I don’t enjoy getting these, and I don’t like the way I play when I get them. It’s less fun to lose and really to play the game in general. But the reward is big! And I need to farm to unlock an engineer now that they’re excluded from the free rotation for some reason. All the woes of free-to-play in a perfect storm right there!

Any thoughts on these missions?

right now I’m on the wall.

I had a stopwatch win mission and it was a pain to complete considering the state of mind with the new players. Took quite a few attempts while server hopping to find one where I didn’t have to carry the team and repair/push/everything the objective while 90% of the rest of the team allowed themselves to get boxed into the spawn for camping because they were afraid to leave cover.

That also made it impossible to rack up any combat/support XP for the other missions because I had to keep swapping back to Proxy to do suicide runs to repair/disarm.

Since I put my mind towards working towards mission completion today, I actually pulled a few rage quits directly because of the lack of progress I was making towards my mission goals.

I wonder if these win missions may be better presented in the form of badge achievements once our badge/competitive profile stats are finally unlocked. Working towards a 5x revive… just exclude most kill based ones. In the last day I’ve wanted to reach through my screen and beat the crap out of I don’t know how many nitwits that lost the match miserably but were boasting about their petty K:D ratio that was only slightly in favor of kills… morons.

As for the current PUG crowd, it does feel like a pain.

Voted good, I don’t mind the missions that force specific conditions or force you to play in a particular way, even if it’s not what your normal preference would be because I find it much more interesting and engaging that the generic grinding type ones.

They’re better than just good. They are the best. The “just play X” amount of games are boring. I think there is room for both.

So you would rather be rewarded for loitering around being useless than for carrying your team? Is that what you are saying?

I’d rather feel free to balance than be encouraged to stack.

I never feel more engaged with a game than when I have an external mission bar to fill up!

I’m not saying that the other missions are good. The other day I witnessed the phenomenon of the only guy with an engie equipped refusing to play engineer because he had a “support mission”, and needed to grind. I’m saying that missions that force you to win will encourage players to upset the balance by stacking, leaving, and changing team at the end. All missions suck, but all of them don’t get in the way of the core game.

If you read again, or just once, I think you will find that it is, in fact, not what I’m saying. Happy to help you! xoxoxo

Voted bad. As someone who most enjoys games that go down to the wire with both teams balanced these actively encourage stacking. It also discourages the extremely limited number of good players who actually will swap teams for balance from doing so.
