I pre-ordered Brink and I’m in Europe, so we still have to wait 2 days to play this game. I loved the game from the gamefootage and US users’ streams, the only thing that bugs me is that there is no recoil in the game. You can just pull the trigger for 5 seconds and still shoot accurately, thus killing your opponent. Recoil adds just a little bit of realism to the game and also I believe it seperated the good player and the bad player. The level of aiming skill really shows it self when there is recoil. So, eventhough I love the game and will play it, it seems as though I might get bored because every single person can kill you by just holding mouse botton 1. Even if there is no recoil, at least make the shots far less accurate if you hold down mouse button 1… Everytime I see a trigger being pulled for 5 seconds, the enemy dies. Don’t let the trigger maniacs kill their enemies…
What do you guys think, should they implement recoil in the game or not?
First to the bolded part:
that is just plain and simple wrong.
Recoil is just another factor when it comes to shooters.
remove it and the game suddenly concentrates alot more on the other factors, raising the skill ceiling.
there are two fundamental things you need in a “duel”:
Speed and Accuracy, it’s the same for all shooters, no exception here.
the guy that shoots faster and is more accurate wins, period.
In counter strike you may win a aim-duel against a quake player, you are familiar with the recoil, you know how to play with it, you’re skilled with.
the quake player will destroy you in quake though, despite there beeing no recoil and no hitzones.
A player that plays quake exclusively will probably have a lot better overall accuracy and reaction, simply because he doesnt have to think about recoil, he doesnt need to train 4 different parts of his aiming like in CS (speed, accuracy, movement penalty, body part hitboxes) he just needs to train two (speed, accuracy).
He concentrates alot more on these two than a counter strike play could.
so chances are that the verage speed/accuracy of a quake player is higher than that of his counter strike counter part.
Second:
there is recoil, and it’s massive for revolvers/assoult rifles/heavy weapons.
It’s true that the SMGs dont have much recoil, but that is the case in every shooter I played, even in CS.
