Will we be having persistent accounts like ETQW or will stats be kept locally?

As we can play the game offline using the same account as online I’m guessing the stats will be kept locally like in Cod4 or do we have to be connected to the internet to update the stats as there will be some sort of stats site like in ETQW?

The main reason I ask if because I when ETQW was first released I had really bad problems with my ISP not letting me login as it thought that the P2P connection used was for file sharing or something so they blocked it (even though they denied doing such things). It eventually got sorted out and I could play after 4pm.

Then when Wolfenstein came out I had the same problems again but with their lack of support the problem never got solved.

Brink will use Steam.

Not an answer to what I asked really is it?

I know Steam will be used as the DRM, but are you saying Steam will also be handling accounts and if stats would be local so you could play offline still or would you need to be connected to the internet still as they are persistent?

one of the main features of single/multiplayer in brink is that you level up the same character when you play, no matter if you’re online or offline.

I’d assume he was referring to the most likely use of SteamCloud which syncs all stats and player settings with the local pc that is connected. So you play offline and all stats are kept local and then when connected to the net the SteamCloud syncs… This means all stats are saved locally on an pc that uses your login. Handy when you play on 2 computers ie a laptop and a desktop.

There is no mention of Steam Cloud support on Brink’s Steam page.
