Will there be weapon customization?

Will Dirty Bomb have weapons customization?
I’m a big fan of tweaking weapon components until I get the perfect weapon for my game style and I wonder if this will be included in Dirty Bomb as well.

(Just as an example, the new Combat Arms that will be published by Nexon will implement something similar, check https://youtu.be/fTBrJhmMkuw?t=30s)

If you mean customization that will change weapon stats (heavy barrels, grip…) or modify game mechanics (silencers…), I don’t think it is planned. For pure balance reasons. Game with heavy customization generally ends up being not balanced at all. And balancing the game nicely is probably one of the devs priority. You will have plenty of merc choices with at least 3 choices for both main weapons and secondaries for each of them. So you will find a set that will perfectly fit your play style.
As far as rumors go and what was available in some older releases, we may have some skins for characters available. Some players are also begging to have the possibility to change sights. But since you should fire from the hip 95% of the time, this won’t be much of an help. Just a visual feature that won’t change anything on how the weapon behave.

I hope not.

i hope, there wont be any unbalancing customisations.

Right now we are sticking with the Loadout cards as far as all that goes.

The guys in the art department who did all the nice gun skins we had before the loadout cards showed up must be so happy to see their hard work sidelined… :’(

@Djiesse Who’s saying that skins aren’t a part of Loadout cards?

I guess we’ll have to see how the system plays out in the end, but as it is now, with one loadout card that determines your merc skin, augments, weapons and even weapon skins (if I go by your not-so-subtle hint…), it’s going to be all about compromises. I think compromises are fine for the gameplay aspects (weapons + augments) for balance reasons, but I don’t see why you would have to make compromise on cosmetics a well…

I’m really hoping to see a mechanism that allows us to combine the cosmetics we prefer with the weapon + augments loadout of our choice, either by assigning multiple loadout cards to the same merc or through some sort of crafting to combine parts from multiple loadout cards into one.

Yup, I’d be totally onboard for that. Weapon skins and such in CS:GO has done amazingly well. I’d wager it’s far exceeded what Valve expected it to do. I personally only have a couple of skins in CS:GO as I don’t really care for them or spending too much money on them but others do and I’m totally fine with that. Whatever keeps people happy and invested in the game and having fun I’m down with as long as it’s not a pay2win situation. Dirty Bomb going crazy with the custom skins and such would pretty much go hand in hand IMO. Now if only you could get Dirty Bomb integrated into the Steam marketplace then it could really take off.

And again, I would much rather seen tons of skins, stickers, camos and other stuff than EVER having to pay for a gun or a card or something that makes me stronger than opponents. The latter always ends in people leaving while it’s been proven that games like CS:GO, Dota 2 and even Loadout can make pretty good money off of cosmetics only and keep the community happy.

loadouts as is + a way to rotate skins within loadouts via some crafting system seems like the easiest way to go, for now at least.

Combat Arms is a great example of a game that was wrecked by poor balance, although it isn’t too bad now I think it is too late. I wouldnt count on seeing similar things between Line of Sight and Dirty Bomb as although DB is published by Nexon, they are not the devs. Line of Sight is a Nexon game.

Im still really excited for Line of Sight (when its not EU only D: ) Because I loved CA until it was simply unplayable without spending shitloads of money.

Skins - yes
Stat modifications - please NO !

I would like to be able to change my scope, as well as put a silencer on my gun.

Maybe don’t make this changes TOO invasive, but give us the ability to tweak our weapons
