Will the voice-overs get annyoing?

One of the biggest problem with multiplayer games for me are the voice-overs. Developers don’t often realise that some people will but more than a hundred hours into playing the game. And if you have the same voices over and over again that it can get really annoying.

And after seeing this video I am afraid Brink will suffer the same fate. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EMUhObjXWTk&feature=related

I specially find the player’s own accent in that video really really annoying. And if he is gonna yell out every time I select to go to an command post or something that I will probably be pissed of really quickly.

Same goes for the guy on the radio if for example somebody is trying to take the command post etc.

This also annoyed me in ETQW.

In ETQW, there was a cvar to turn off bot chatter. Maybe something similar exists for what you want. I don’t know.

I don’t know if you’ve checked but there’s about 3 or 4 other threads about this same topic including one I originally started. If you do a search you might find some good info.

BUT… each archetype will have a different kind of voice PER accent. So they won’t all sound exactly the same. And Brink is going to be unbelievably customizable. You’ll probably be able to turn off the chatter if it annoys you so much. AND keep in mind you’re probably watching the same video over and over.

There’s probably an option to turn them off? (Maybe?)

Also, it sounds like you can even change the voice of the “commander” and NPCs. Supposedly you have a couple options on those.

The Strogg and GDF voices on ETQW never bothered me, but there wasn’t nearly as much auto chatter (grenade!) as there will be on Brink either.

I was sort of worried at first as well, that voice from early vids where the guy is saying “brothers, they are stealing one of our command posts” got on my nerves before the video was over, I couldn’t imagne having to hear it over and over every freakin game.

edit: wait, it’s this same vid, lol. yeah, I see why you would be worried, they are pretty annoying in this one. I don’t remember hearing anything like this in that vid where Jolly was playing container city though.

Not sure.
I was never bothered by it on ETQW or other games but some of those Brink voices
and lines already annoy me.

But, once I’m playing I will hear them (get the messege) but not very consciously if you know what I mean.
You hear but do not listen anymore. Or the other way around
Anywho, don’t want to turn them off, need info.

We’re all watching the videos over and over without being immersed in the game and processing what we need to be doing. This makes us focus on things we normally wouldn’t.
