Will TFT-Screens properly display ET:QW?

CRT’s have “ghosting” also. Watch a flying tennisbal on a CRT and you will notice the ghosting also.

What lots of people “see” when they refer to ghosting on a TFT is the sometimes visual transitions between shades of one color. Especially in red this can be really annoying.
CRT’s do not have that problem because of the more natural mix of the visual light. This makes shades of a color more fluient.

The pixels on a TFT are way more sharp then the beam from a cathode filtered by 1cm thick glass, also the shadow mask doesn’t allow very small pixels so how can a CRT be better?

It’s just a matter of taste. Just try some TFT’s with your favorite game and buy the one you like most.

I’m not sure why black-white-black is “true” and G2G is not, if one is just the worst case (is it?) response time and the other possibly the response time of some “average” pixel. Neither of them is the whole truth.

G2G is usually the only rating available, so general recommendations that “so-and-so true response time is good enough for everyone” would be pretty pointless even if everyone had the same requirements/perception. :stuck_out_tongue:

edit
Another thing: don’t get a TFT with higher native resolution than your computer can handle in the games you play.

why not? i for my part always play in windowed mode, so i got no problem with a lower resolution in the game

Well, buying a X inch monitor and only using X-n inches isn’t the smartest thing to do.

well, depends on how you define “smartest”. if it’s to avoid motion sickness i think it’s a pretty much good thing to do
