Will Stopwatch Mode Be The Default??

(Bridger) #1

What will be the default game mode? I can see that most Brink maps are the attack/defend style. I’m curious if it will be using stopwatch mode by default.

By stopwatch mode I mean that one team plays attackers and completes the mission (or gets as far as they can) in a time, then the teams switch sides and the former defenders now try to beat that time (or beat the time to the last objective the former attackers managed to get to).

Is this how brink functions normally? Do the teams switch after? Or are they trying to balance the maps so that attack and defense are both valid by themselves?

Campaign is the default mode. Choose a side, and work through the maps/story from that side only.

No stop watch.
Resistance attacks, Security defends. No matter who won, the game continues.
But here is my question:
After the map ends, does a new map get loaded and all choose their team again, like in W:ET, or do you stay with your team mates, but just switch sides, like in A.V.A.
Also, can you actually choose your team when you join, or is it randomly?

Are you saying stopwatch isn’t even an option then? It’s by far the most intense and balanced game mode I’ve ever encountered. There are very few game modes in which anybody can win right up until the last 30 seconds of the game.

Brink does have stopwatch, but campaign/objective is indeed the ‘default’ mode.

How does the campaign mode work exactly? Does start of the next map change based upon who won the previous? It’s been a long time since I played W:ET, but I don’t remember campaign being very different from a list of maps.

The way it was originally explained, the maps will be played in order in campaign mode. The winning team will keep the room and move to the next level, the losing team will be put into other rooms via matchmaking to try the map over.

Ah yes, I forgot that. Thank you for a friendly reminder

Campaign for pubs, stopwatch for comp, herp for derp.

I’m sure there will be many play now servers running stopwatch. Certainly the majority won’t be, but hopefully there will be enough active servers that the small percentage of those running stop watch will always have some people in them playing that mode.

90% sure GzR will have a stopwatch server running full time, hopefully it will be popular.
