Didnt check to see if it was asked before, but is Splash Damage planning on designing more maps for ET in the future?

i very much doubt it - SD are mapping for Doom 3, which means less frequent updates of q3map2 and less time devoted to ET.
But i can’t wait for Doom 3, hopefully there is an on-disc map editor like UT2003 had.
I think that is no reason for Splash Damage to make more maps, because the player will do maaaaaany maps!
ahhhh!!! is that a hint that some members of SD feel like having another stab at making an ET map
Nope it’s probably simply saying that SD has no official plans to release any more maps.
Remember that ET was originally going to be a paid program.
This means that SD would have had an income stream from it (and probably the individuals involved would get royalties). More cash = more support. It would also have meant more maps, and indeed SD have stated several times before that they had other maps in the works that didn’t make the final cut (presumably read - weren’t finished, so they simply downed tools, got ET out, moved onto next, paying, project).
I doubt ET will ‘officially’ be getting anyone to do any more maps, BUT I reckon some of the mappers deep within SD will have these half (or more) finished maps and will not want to waste the effort (especially since chances are some of the unreleased maps are bound to be better than some of the ones bundled with ET).
So possibly they’ll carry on in their own free time, and if the maps are good enough, SD will be happy enough to release them sooner or later.
If I had to guess, I’d say we’ll probably eventually get maybe a new campaign from them, but, until it’s released, it’ll NEVER be officially stated that it’s coming.
In other words - SD’s line until such time as anything is released, will be ‘There are NO official plans to release any new maps’.
Or to put it bluntly - don’t bother asking them
lol just trying to get my hopes up - thanks for smashing them into a thousand pieces :bash:
lol
I guess Gerbil pretty much summed it up.
SD isn’t getting any money for ET anymore so during work hours they certainly won’t be working on it.
Maybe if one employee is bored after work hours he might decide to make/finish a map, but don’t count on anything soon.
Ummm play with Doom3 engine or … play with ET engine … ummm must think about that one!

Yeah well you spoiled little rich kids (
) maybe have to think about it.
The choice for me is easy… my pc can only run one of them
True, but we all know how hard it is to put down something you’ve started working on. I bet a couple of you guys every now and then twiddle on some of the half finished maps you already had in progress
