The problem is that they decided to make almost everything an automatic weapon. If you try real hard, you can make maybe in the neighborhood of 5 or so different unique yet balanced automatic weapons. But they tried to make like 30 of them, and that’s just silly.
Will SD ever rebalance the weapons?
The differences are still distinct though. I’m happy with it, the range of guns is like Raven Shield nobody has to feel forced with a default gun he doesn’t like.
Or it could be that the people with ‘basic technical problems’ just abandoned the game at this point, if you have unplayable lag or can’t run the game without gfx glitches, you’ll stop posting about it at one point.
So now we have the left over fans who want a better gameplay ; )
They will, I remember during an interview they said that they used some easy coding (I think XML) for weapon properties so they could change weapon stats easily with minimal download size
I wouldn’t call it complaining, the gameplay works fine. It is just more fun with there is real choice in what weapon to use.
In fairness there are more weapons available in Brink than the ones I have access to in real life.
Boom!
Guns in BRINK are more balanced than most other games out there. If they do tweak some data, it’s all server-side, meaning that there won’t be a patch out for it. If they want to, they can change some numbers right now. Actually, I think they already have.
All the guns in Brink are fun to use, though, down to even the weakest gun.
Some SMG feel OP, eventually all people will go light with SMG if nothing is tweaked.
@OP, don’t think they need to rebalance things - I personally feel the weapons are incredibly well balanced as they stand right now.
But yes, SD do have a history of rebalancing things where such changes are needed. They’ll be watching what people do and how, they’ll be following how we use different weapons and tweaking the ones that need it.
I hope they don’t change too many weapons, and hoping they don’t change them too much, because the current state of balance is amazing imo, but that doesn’t mean they’re not going to agree with you and rebalance.
I see nothing wrong with any of the SMGs aside from the Tampa. It’s nigh useless. As for the Carb-9, it lacks good accuracy. The Bulpdaun, Kross, and Galactic w/grip have good accuracy for their weapon type, they’re not amazing.
As an avid Tampa fan, I can assure you that it’s not useless. It fulfills a very specific niche role as an SMG: close-quarter-combat. The other SMGs are more versatile and can kill at close to medium to even medium-long range. The Tampa is far more limited in that it is only viable up close, but it compensates in two ways.
Firstly, it is viciously deadly in close quarters and will win on full-auto or burst fire against the other SMGs up close.
Secondly, it has the fastest Equip Speed and Reload Speed of any SMG when using Speed Sling and Duct Tape magazines, respectively. The Tampa’s reload is so quick that you can reload mid-battle and still come out ahead.
When I use the Tampa, I kit out with an Assault Rifle primary, and I use the Tampa solely for close quarter engagements. In this regard, it is exceptional.
This switch helped me, because beforehand I was a Kross user. I found that I was losing up close engagements against corner-sliding lights and the Tampa has helped me to reverse this trend.
I understand how you feel about the CARB-9, because I have the same inclination about the CARB-9. In some ways, I don’t understand what all the hype is about given the high amount of kick and so-so accuracy.
However, I’ve discovered that with extremely short hip-fire bursts (even just tapping the fire button) that the CARB-9 is exceptionally powerful up to insane ranges. With the proper aim, the CARB-9 is vicious, and I now understand why lights deck out with this weapon and the Sea Eagle as their secondary.
Hopefully they introduce more variety in the weapons, along with trade-offs. The SMGs are superior for 99% of the firefights in the game, and there’s only minor differences between them.
I really don’t want to see all CARB-9s every match.
Or players are simply tired of complaining about the same thing with no fix. It is good that the lag should be dealt with on the 360 next week but that says nothing of the AI issues, lobby system, etc.
Of the SMGs, I like the bulpdaun alot. Been trying out different weapons, some work, others dont. I really want to like the Rokstedi (think it looks the best), but can never do well… Like ARs more than SMGs though, prefering Gerund or Euston.
