Will Ranked have a queue restriction like the last season?

So,i saw the news ,and so,i’m wondering,will Ranked have the 1-2-5 player restriction?

I’m just asking,since it was the main reason i couldn’t play ranked with my friends.

Wait so players cant queue as 3 or 4? Can someone explain why

you can, but you maybe wont be paired up with another team, maybe solo players

1 or 4 of your friends would indicate there will be solo, duo and 5 man. But I’m sure they’ll have more information on that.

You can queue solo, duo or 5-man in ranked. This was a restriction put in place after pre-season to prevent a 5-man who are on VOIP together running into a bunch of solo players who aren’t coordinating. A stack of 3 or 4 players means the majority of a team is communicating and can cause problems for the solo player or duo on the enemy.

Restricting it to 5-man vs 5-man and the rest also theoretically makes it easier to find matches. Throw the 2 closest skilled 5-mans together, then put players and duos of similar skill together. (There can be 0-2 duos and 1-5 solo players per team, with lesser fear of a party rolling the game.)

Makes sense I guess. Kind of imagined coordination/comms would be expected from every player who joins ranked.
