I watched that video again and it seems like they would need to track a tiny bit more data if they wanted to use it for that.
That being kill-lines, which if they track already is bloody awesome.
Will DB be played on VAC secure servers?
It’ll probably end up like being FairFight if they create one for those familiar with it.

Exactly! you wont be able to ban every cheater on earth. But the community got to hold strong. Remember… We got kickvotes for days. We got motivation to put into Dirty Bomb. We got us. We got the community!! and a great game, thanks to the community and the devs!! :)[/quote]
kickvotes are honestly something I really don’t like, plenty of good players will be on the receiving end of those.
I’m pretty sure there’ll be hackers even amongst the comp players. Spectator mode is great for catching obvious aimbots, but anything subtle or wh will be left down to the AC.

Since it is a vote you cant do much about it. if 8 of 10 players don’t like playing with this person, does that really change anything? Either hacker or just way better than them it unbalances the game and makes it unfair for them. Certainly many people will get kicked for something they didn’t commit. But that is how votes are.

Define what a “comp player” is, do u mean professional players like KQLY or SF, or just people playing competitive game modes with hacks?
Either way you are terribly right, AC got to do a large amount of work, but this is the issue in EVERY game, there are hackers in ET in CSGO in CoD and in whatever game you like to point out now. Maybe not that much and not that consistent but they are and there might be no chance to really deny any kind of cheats/hacks in a game.

Loadout used to have vote kicks in beta, but it was removed because the top players were getting kicked from more or less every game they played.
Don’t want the same thing to happen in db.

I don’t mean people playing comp gamemodes, i mean the top players playing in tournaments etc. If the AC isn’t amazing, there will be plenty.
And thing is, even if plenty of other top players are sure that someone is hacking, there’s nothing that can be done about it as it can’t be proven. For example, in the first Loadout tournament with irl prizes, the 2nd place team had someone that we were sure was aimbotting, but we had no way to prove it, the AC hadn’t picked up on it.
Only reason he ever got banned was that he got VAC banned from tf2 causing people to look into him and find some comments he left on a “how to make an aimbot” youtube video.
If he hadn’t been dumb enough to comment that using his main youtube account, he would never have been banned because the anticheat never picked up on him.
Spectator mode doesn’t prove anything either, like you pointed out KQLY and SF hacked and got caught by the AC, not spectator. Even when someone looks very shady in spectator, such as Flusha, that’s not enough to ban them because it’s not good enough proof.
In Dirty Bomb, I don’t want to have to rely on kickvotes (won’t prove anything, will get good players kicked) and hackers being dumb in order to be able to play hacker free. There needs to be a strong AC that receives frequent updates. Obviously there’ll still be hackers, but I don’t want to play the game competitively and not know if the people I’m playing against are legit or not.
I totally agree with the rest of the comment so I just use that snippet, it gets longer and longer
Infact KQLY and SF got banned after one with intel gave Valve the code for the hack. I have a comment WAY up that states how VAC System works. An AC that detects these kinds of hacks is just a dream. If a private coder writes himself his own hack that is not visible to the eye, you wont find ANYTHING suspicious about him. These hacks are worth 200 - 500€ MINIMUM and wont be banned in a long long time since VAC cant possibly find something hooked. Well if the hack is coded properly.
Let’s hope for a happy ending for Dirty Bomb!

Don’t think I’m violating any NDAs by confirming that it does that. It actually tracks a hell of a lot of stuff. I think it can definitely be modified towards insta-booting OPKs and what not almost immediately.
sounds to me like if it tracks so much it could track a server-sided demo as well. That would solve ALL the problems with cheaters. Its not CS where WH can be unclear and still help a team a great deal.
yeah I can’t believe it, P00p is probably one of the least offensive words I use in my every day vocabulary at work.
I been known to say “I am so happy I could P00p” rather often at work, when I am faking enthusiasm.

w0t?
all games are recorded server side, or were
early hackers were caught this way. People have to submit time, server number, map etc

I agree. I have a billion alts on Blacklight: Retribution that get vked repeatedly because it’s impossible for someone that’s a lower level to be better than you.

On the other hand, dick is not
AC’s are only as good as the people behind them. That’s both the developers of the AC and the people in control of the servers. There are so many ways to get around an AC system if the AC system isn’t VERY invasive…which almost none are outside of one or two implementations in CS. And most people don’t want that invasive software on their PC. So you have to balance the risk of allowing a cheater to not be caught for a while vs. upsetting people who don’t want invasive programs on their PC. As many know one of the more famous invasive AC programs from CS got caught mining bitcoins using players GPU’s without their consent (and it ruined a few GPUs).
I hope that the players get the tools to help catch cheaters and the devs of the AC programs are proactive rather than reactive. It’s a hard deal and players will always crap on you. I think AC work is probably the least rewarding thing you could do in gaming because even if you catch 99.9% of the cheaters people will still say the AC is pure crap. Partly because it’s impossible to catch everyone and partly because they are the type of player who thinks anybody who is much better than them cheat.
The AC mining bitcoins was a cause of a rogue employee rather than a Valve initiative
