WIKILEAKS 'insurance.aes256' any idea what it contains ?

The only clues are Wikileaks founder’s comments on the subject:
“I think it’s better that we don’t comment on that,” Assange said, according to the network’s transcript of the interview. “But, you know, one could imagine in a similar situation that it might be worth ensuring that important parts of history do not disappear.”

In theory it’s a bunch of stuff he hasn’t released yet, but until someone cracks the password, hard to say

me, care, no

(tokamak) #3

It’s just whatever they’ve collected so far. Not necessarily more shocking that what’s released already.

here link how to open this file

about password, “they” will release it when Assange will be murdered… so something really important must be there.

Or it’s just a bluff, anyway seems to be working so far?

(xTriXxy) #6

its working. but i dont know password:cool:

Not when he’s murdered, ‘facing authorities’ which he already does now but I guess he can’t play his trump card so early on as then he’ll lose all bargaining.

I meant who says there is anything in that file? Maybe it’s just an encrypted video of never gonna give you up…

Maybe they just made the whole thing up.

lol who knows… maybe its fake, maybe not.

How big is the file?

I shouldn’t take that long to break the code will super cloud computing what we have nowadays.

Not all encryption is that weak…

(Nail) #12

file is 1.38 Gig and it is encrypted

(Dthy) #13

Hit it hard with a hammer, that should open it

(Nail) #14

tried with every hammer I had, no luck, gonna get some new hammers

the encryption is easier than the password btw

(xTriXxy) #15

good luck with encrypting 256-bit AES

(Dthy) #16

the example they show (for rotate) doesn’t seem that difficult. All it did was move the 2 MSB’s to the end, making them the LSB’s…

(Nail) #17

encrypting is easy, it’s the de-crypting that gets tiresome, but everything follows rules in computing

To put this in perspective, let’s consider how big a number 256 bits really is. This represents 2 to the 256th power, or 1.15 x 10 to the 77th power (i.e., 77
zeros): 3,400,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000,

If you assume:
• Every person on the planet owns 10 computers.
• There are 7 billion people on the planet.
• Each of these computers can test 1 billion key combinations per second.
• On average, you can crack the key after testing 50 percent of the possibilities.

Then the earth’s population can crack one encryption key (one drive only) in 144,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 years!
• In case you’re wondering, cracking the second key/drive would take another144,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 years.

simply, not possible

It is possible to open, all we need is chuck norris to chin punch it. This would most certainly open it.

Also, in your calculation, are you accounting for Moore’s Law?

(xTriXxy) #20

if chuck norris will kill him, we will get our rcon!
