Why you should not use the new crafting system

(Ohsnapkline) #1

The new crafting system Is a grind and was just a way for the game to grab money off new players (who wont know about the old crafting system) under the guise of it being “More Convenient”. More than likely the crafting system was setup this way intentionally and they are likely not to change it or by much. There is much better ways to monetize money from their cash shop but since cosmetics are tied into loadout cards it’s very hard, seeing as you can just have outfits/cosmetics for mercs separate and have more things to sell overall.

This level of stubbornness is beyond me, I really don’t get it. My only theory on this Is they are simply taking advantage of how Gambling/RNG systems work neurologically on the minds of adolescents (here is a journal of gambling studies on google.scholar if you want to check out the abstract or more http://link.springer.com/article/10.1023/A:1021275130071) to insure a consistent revenue flow on newer players who have shown to be a younger audience. they don’t care about veteran players, apparently that is not where the money is, its from bringing in newer players as @N8o has brought up a very good point in how this many people completed this http://i.imgur.com/CjtoNn2.png

for more thoughts and opinions here is a video by Sovrakha on why the new crafting system is just bad

don’t like it, don’t use it

I love how every little salt shaker here cries “cash grab” every change that happens
here’s the true poop, NOTHING useful costs money, only things that can’t be attained in game are Trinkets. THIS IS A FIRST PERSON SHOOTER, NOT A FREAKIN CARD GAME

(everlovestruck) #3

It really is convenient. Yeah, it takes a lot of credits blah blah but still, they’ve done one hell of a job

here’s the true poop “does it work? yep. Let’s change that”

Not sure how you define a veteran player but at least in my case I don’t care really about the crafting system anymore. I have all the mercs and broze cards I need, 350K credits and a few hundred lead cards I have no use for. If there wouldn’t be “Quick Open” I probably wouldn’t even open cases anymore. I never understood why people are so concerned about nicer looking loadouts they can’t even see themselves in.

(yesser) #6

but dude before we got the trade in and no one used it its true that now the cobalt seem a bit too big price but its not really a problem

(Ohsnapkline) #7

I understand this and there might be some good sides to the new crafting but look at it with some foresight.

if we don’t complain or criticize this what is SD going to ruin next?
what changes are they going to introduce to the game that incentivises wasting money on a RNG Gambling system rather than just adding straight cosmetics or actual game content.
their priorities are a little goofy imo.

(TheStrangerous) #8

Correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t crafting going to cost LESS, compared to trade ins and trade ups?

(DMaster2) #9

They just need to tweak the cost of crafting a tiny bit (too high now imho). I do like being able to destroy useless leads for free, before i had to spend credits just to turn them into irons.

(Ohsnapkline) #10

agreed but I think they need to adjust the price a lotta bit cobalt and gold is ridiculous.

(scrub_lord) #11

How else are we suppose to get cards then?

Nice argument. lmao

yours is any better? maybe I should of said dont buy crafting kits instead, might have been a more solid argument. i’m just surprised i’m hearing this defeatism from people though. “Welp it’s what we have now so we should just accept it, man… people are just so salty right guys?” yeah no thanks that’s what sheep say and no one’s gonna tell me to get in line. You argue, debate and criticize until they get tired of it is what you do.

(LifeupOmega) #13

17.5k from store if you’re going to be pedantic.

(N8o) #14

All the bigger YouTubers made videos on it; they’ll change it eventually.

(The_N00Ba) #15

looking at the math I do find the costs to make golds and Cobalts to be curved rather high. This appears to definitely having a negative impact on the demand of cobalts and golds. luckily this appears to be a simple economics problem. hopeful costs are adjusted to meet eh demands of all parties involved. ideally I hope this turns out true.

(AnonOmis1000) #16

Or, you know, the devs want gold and cobalts to be harder to get.

(doxjq) #17

It does, over all. 50k for a cobalt trade is less than what you would have paid before when you take into account all of the trade in costs trading up from lead to iron all the way up to cobalt.

It’s actually much cheaper, so it is a better system for new players to start up with.

But it makes what you do have less valuable, so those of us who have a rather large inventories (with a lot of silvers or golds) take a huge kick in the nuts. Millions of credits down the drain, and don’t even get me started on how much time was wasted, not to mention the golds are now worth significantly less. The new system is designed around starting from scratch, not including what you already own. The 50k cobalt trade takes into account all the fees you would usually pay when you trade up from lead all the way to cobalt, that’s why it is so expensive to do the trade. So if you already have a ton of golds, where you’ve already paid those fees before trading up to gold in the first place, you now have to pay them again when you go up to cobalt. If you had nothing but cobalts before the update hit, you’re fine. It’s hit the silver and gold more than anything.

Will it make me stop playing the game? No. The gameplay is too good. Am I salty about the new system? I couldn’t be saltier, and I think I’m justified in feeling this way. Sure it’s only cosmetic but it still ticks me off, and it really bothers me when people think I have no right to feel annoyed about it.

Yes, it is.

(Teflon Love) #19

While true from a mathematical point of view, instead of a couple of comparably small numbers now there is one scary huge number (50K). So from a psychological point of view this might not have been a smart decision.

Personally I don’t care about fancy loadouts or screaming youtubers but if DB has to shut down because the vain people are not putting any money in it anymore I’ll probably get concerned too. So here’s hoping SD monitors the numbers on monetization and (if needed) adjust accordingly.

(doxjq) #20

Agreed. I’ve actually had a few people say this to me earlier in game as well, that even though it is cheaper it just seems unappealing when you plonk in 50k for one hit at a cobalt.
