Why this game is dead in the water...

There is hackers in every game…just leave the server and find a new one. Can’t get points if there is nobody to shoot.

Just to make something clear here : CSGO is not free not to limit cheaters but just to make some profit and allow work on the game maintenance without drawing hands in the trading jackpot. The last update with Overwatch final release and that “Players must now be at least Rank 3 to play Competitive Matchmaking.” is a pretty obvious clue of it. CSGO, free or not, would have been crowded with cheaters no matter how. That’s just a strong issue with popular fps/tps in general, regardless of the price of the game.
And if VAC is already lacking of efficiency in valve’s games, it is a headless duck with UE3 based games (I’ve seen more on chivalry which was vac protected than here for a same period of time). The results would have been the same.
As of now, better limit your matchmaking games on premade parties.
An in-game reporting system is usually used, but imo, this would lead to 90% of raging reports. At least, we should be able to get steam_id from the console, that would allow us to report the player more accurately and get cheaters with low-end programs more easily. I guess steam-ids can be overlapped with strong cheats, but devs and gm at nexon have enough tools in their hands to check if it’s the actual account.

You guys really think hackers care about losing their mercs when they get banned??? Lol…

It’s not like they’re like “gee I really wish I could manually aim a grenade on fragger right now with my aimbot that instantly kills everyone with any gun in the game”…

@BMontlel… Obviously CSGO costs money so valve can make money… Nobody prices a game based on what will deter hackers… BUT it is inarguable that more expensive game does = a larger deterrent to hacking. CSGO is tremendously popular and if it was free to play and didn’t have VAC it would probably be COMPLETELY overrun by hackers to the point of being unplayable. That’s what is inevitably going to happen to this game with virtually no countermeasures against hacking. The larger it grows, the more rampant hacking will be.

This game has a 10-20 man dev team from what I’ve heard and they probably have to manually go through the online hacking reports and take the time to review evidence… Even if they put a guy literally doing full time, they still wouldn’t even put a dent into hacking in this game. There is just no way they’re going to be able to control hacking with an online report system in a F2P game…

CSGO needs to stop being brought up as a role model. That game is absolutely infested with hackers despite VAC and despite the price of the game. Hackers are gonna hack no matter what obstacles you put in their way, we just have to figure out the fastest way to deal with them. In a perfect world the game would be able to immediately tell a hack was being used without doubt and ban the user but we’re really not even close to that and probably never will be.

the point is that they will get BORED. I imagine hacking being super boring in the first place (nothing ruined a single-player game for me more than hacking the hell out of it).

Add the fact that they only get to try a few of the mercs in the game, and they will get even more bored.

Fortunately, Dirty Bomb is not a game made purely around aim, like CSGO so:

  • non-obvious hacks are not as damaging to the gameplay of other people, and not as rewarding to the hackers (they will still get stomped by AoE, lack of teamwork etc.)
  • obvious hacks (100% hs) will be easier to spot & ban

Anti Cheat Systems wont solve your and our issue due to the system itself. Anyone who has a slight idea what I am talking about knows it. Most ACS are searching for known pattern of bit arrays that are used by cheat injectors. xigncode itself could potentially “ban” every player that has some kind of hack activated if there wouldnt be some kind of “injection” which makes it alot harder. Consider that if you are able to “outsmart” the system in checking other arrays first or the “infected” array at last/never no anti cheat system will just get them easily. VAC for example goes for the trick “lets hope they dont realise we fixed the weakspot” which leads to alot of “hacks” getting flagged and banned after a certain time. But for this to work a WHOLE programmer group is focusing on those hacks and they are mostly taking the free ones out first. If we try to achieve the same with a small company like splashdamage we would need alot more money to actually get decent results. I love this game dont get me wrong but hacker will always be present and we wont change it. No game is actually hack free. It is us as a community who can hold cups/pugs and matches where we can kick hack free.
On the other side i dont want to say that SplashDamage/Nexon should just depend on us but try to get rid of most of them.

Hope to see you all around

I find it funny how people talk of hackers, yet I’ve only encountered maybe 5, 1-2 a month since I started playing.

So, first of all, I would like to make something clear, make sure you actually know what hacking is. Because I’ve been accused before, and I wasn’t doing anything out of the normal for higher level play. Just because someone gets something like, 30 kills and 10 deaths doesn’t mean they hack. You just gave them EVERYTHING they needed to get those kills. Lack of comms, not covering the flank, not sticking together, really simple stuff.

Hacking is walling, aim bots, trigger bots, or just general mods like speed hacks or something else.

I agree they should get VAC, but that won’t stop the hackers. Because how VAC works isn’t instant, it’s delayed to give people a false sense of security.

Rule of thumb:

If reporting, examining and banning a hacker takes more effort than creating a new account, the number of hackers will increase.

Thanks for the shorter version of what I said. confused me at first. I garuantee you that if I call someone a hacker it was a blatant aimbot.

(novelBastion) #30

You dont get rekt by hackers. You get recked because you are terrible at the game.

(NotaCobra) #31

Actually, you get “Wrecked” by either, since I’m not the OP, I don’t know which he or she experienced.

(Ceres) #32

Nexon are not the developers though
