Why the servers are so bad?

(Orivar) #1

Why when I go and play battlefield I will have good ping? (70ms).
Why when I go and play CS-GO I will have good ping? (82ms).
Why when I play overwatch and download something in the background and having 170ms ping I wont feel like I am lagging?

WHY WHEN I PLAY DIRTY BOMB WITH 80ms PING I WILL TELEPORT AROUND THE MAP? WHY THE PING WILL GO CRAZY SOMETIMES?
I will tell you why, the servers are cheap and poorly optimized.
I really but really hope that they are like that because the game is STILL in beta.

I dont mind to pay 60$ for this game , I just want better servers. No new mercs, no new events. Only more maps and better servers…

(Jostabeere) #2

So where did you get this information from if I’m allowed to ask?

(BananaSlug) #3

ping isnt the only reason for having lags btw

Good servers cost more money. Bad servers cost less? ><

So is it my speed? 40mbs isnt good?

Where did you get the information about the cost of Nexon’s servers from.
Also that banana said. Ping isn’t everything.

(terminal) #7

Overwatch has a bunch of server side predictions and Blizzard’s own magic codes to make ping less of a factor.

Also,

(Amerika) #8

If your ping is 80ms but you’re teleporting it means that your connection from where you are and where the server is has packet loss. Not enough to disconnect you but enough to make you teleport from time to time in game. If nobody else on the server is having lag/teleport issues than it’s not the server.

It could also be that DB runs your processor harder than all the games you listed which all run your GPU much harder. DB tends to cook older processors pretty heavily and you might be going over your heat thresholds which would also produce warping. This, again, might not happen in other games as they might not push your CPU as hard as DB does (and DB barely touches your GPU).

So it would be worth downloading something like http://www.techpowerup.com/realtemp/ or http://openhardwaremonitor.org/ and making sure your processor isn’t overheating (google your processor and it’s max temp to know how hot it can get).

@Amerika

I have 0% packet lost. Checked it.

I have 0% packet lost. Checked it.[/quote]

How did you go about checking it if you don’t mind?

Also, how are your temps? Did you check them with DB running with those programs I linked? Also, are other people on the server having the same issue you are?

Hopefully we can get the problem narrowed down so that a fix can be implemented or at least the issue identified properly.

(pumpkinmeerkat) #12

Is there a console command for monitoring packet loss/ping/etc. in game or only FPS?

Used Resource Monitor while I was connected to a server. Checked all IPs. My pc isnt overheating while playing DB. Using a config so there is 20% cpu usage.

OK. What IP was being used and what was the server name? Is it all servers in your region or do you only have one region (for example, in the US we have east and west servers)? Also, what temps were you actually running at and which processor do you own? You have no idea how many times people claim that their PC isn’t overheating when in fact it’s overheating. That is easily the most common issue found with your described issue.

Are other people teleporting on the same server that you’re playing on or are you the only one? If so, can you provide video of this via Shadowplay or download OBS or similar?

This type of information is key in figuring out what the actual issue is.

Intel i7-4770. Temps are around 80-93. not overclocked. Sometimes I get good ping (80) but I will have the “conection to the server lost, trying to reconnect” for a second then in the game I wont move but I can get shot at. Sometimes I will just have high ping but that is more rare but still a problem.

These are the EU servers, playing on min 10 the most.

Oh, and on the server browser I see my ping in each server is low (70-80) but in the game it is 84ms,88ms and 96ms (i didnt see 85ms or 89ms, only the ones I told you).

Is that celsius or fahrenheit for your temps? If it’s celsius you are below damage temps for that processor but wayyyyyy above normal temps. And since you probably aren’t at 33c when playing (which is 93 fahrenheit) you probably do mean celsius. That’s wayyyyyyy too hot. I have a 4770 that is OC’d to 4.6ghz and with DB running i’m at 55c. You’re below damage temps but you’re into the temp range where you’d have problems. You need to fix that even if it’s not your issue with DB.

And if you’re connection is rubberbanding up and down like that and you get connection to server lost it means you’re probably losing packets for one reason or another. It could be your CPU getting too hot and causing other issues with CPU dependent parts on your PC like onboard NIC’s. If everyone else isn’t warping around on the server then it’s something either on your PC or with your connection.

Definitely fix that heat issue. That’s way too hot. And you said said a range. If you use something like Open Hardware Monitor it will record your hottest temp that you got to which is way more useful in troubleshooting as opposed to a range. Because if you’re hitting 105c I think that 4770 will clock itself down in an attempt not to damage itself. It’s been a while since I read up on it’s heat specs.

Ok thank you very much. I will try to do something with that.

I have a similar problem since a few days / ~1 week. Other players started teleporting around, or standing still and then moving really quick to their correct position. From time to time it feels like there is some audio delay. Shots are played to late when spectating and even if you see the enemy it feels like they are already at a different position. My ping is fine (20-45ms), enemy ping is mostly below 60. FPS is between 90 and 120. ISP: UPC Austria / Cablecom. It may be packetloss, a bad netcode update, or some routing issues from my ISP. As I have found similar posts here, on steam and on reddit something has most likely changed.

(Orivar) #19

I really hope this is a netcode thing. If it will be I will be more happy that it is not my cpu…
