Why the server browser is so bad ?

(Angry Machine) #1
 • It won’t remember the filters
 • Why the hell I have to type “obj” or “50” to filter the game instead of a simple tick ?
 • Why I can’t remove the servers in my favorites (yes I cllick on the star, nothing happens) ?
 • Why I can’t filter emply/full servers ?

Etc…

It’s supposed to be an online game, they didn’t provide an good browser, what are you think Splash Damage ?

/thread hijack

Can I change the width of the columns in any way? Server names only show like 5 characters or so for me which doesn’t help at all when looking for specific servers.

Ha yes, no you can’t, just another stupid thing.

Maybe before coding something they should try to think about it and then test it.

Pathetic Dev Studio
ever tried the steam server browser for brink? works, too.
Oh, I didn’t think of that. Thanks for the tip! I’ll give it a try next time.

(Angry Machine) #6

I’ll try that !

I find it funny how they have gone from ETQW which had one of the best server browsers / filters I’ve seen to Brink which is worse than ET!

(InfiniteStates) #8

At least you have a server browser and don’t have to rely on the matchmaking gods…

(Angry Machine) #9

Yep, but the server browser still really sucks ^^

(Smoochy) #10

i made a post on the bethesda brink forums regarding this. it also ignores filters. if i put 100 in the ping i still see loads of 120s.

its so annoying that as we move forward lazy devs are removing things that we in the classic fps games. my faves is a joke too. i tend to just use history now but with so many people leaving the servers are often now empty. people seem to be leaving brink at quite a rate!

It’s of course because they forgot to think about changing it after swift ripping the console version off to pc

worsening online-related componenents[server browser, messenger, screwed conferencing feats and etc]is part of strategy to drive you to Steam-counterparts from built-in ingame.
which is distract some players from game, as much as steam does, itself.
