Why random weapon names?

I don’t really like it, I feel as though having a gun name I have heard of before is cooler. Though you know, I don’t mind much either way, I just wanna know why they went for made up names instead of actual names.

You can’t use official ‘brand names’ for guns, as they are copyright protected.

Well, you can. Just have to pay for it. And we don’t want to support the gun industry, do we?

It’s better than “Heavy Sniper Rifle” and the likes, really love it when they have little jokes like the Ahnuld-12, MOA SNPR and Kek.

Along with that, many other guns have names similar to their real steel companies, the only one that doesn’t have one is the M4A1, but I’m pretty sure it has to do a lot with Skyhammer being their first merc.

The only joke I think I got was kek.

The Ahnuld is named after Austrian actor Arnold Schwarzenegger, imitating one saying his name with his accent, its named so since he used the same lever action shotgun in Terminator 2, most notably in a chase scene where he flip-cocked it while on a bike.

MOA SNPR: More Sniper

I can say I honestly didn’t get that reference. Thanks for enlightening me! Now I can terrorize people on teamspeak with my bad impersonations while playing Fletcher.
