Why No Ability Point Given at 24?

(Codine) #21

PC here and I got it. Playing bot matches though.
I’m on the 360.

I was maxed out @ 20. On 24 I now have an additional 4 abilities enabled on the same character. Pyromine, Napalm Grenade, UAV, and Field Regen Unit. At 1 point per level, and 4 new abilities applied to an already maxed out character… there you go.

Thing is, I didn’t get the 4th point @ level 24… but when I first ran the dlc my character was immediately level 22 and I already had 3 points sitting there waiting to be used. It appears that 1 of the points is accidentally given out early to the first Character you select, which got the proactive leveling. As for other characters that dont get the proactive level buff… I do not know.

In the end though, I know I got 4 new points.
This also happened to a guy I play with. After the first match, he was level 21 even though he did not get enough exp.

(mute) #23

That itself it isn’t a problem… they break down your total XP and apply it to the first character you select so you can retroactively level up your character when you first play the DLC. It is only applied to 1 character. I appreciated that, but there does seem to be a problem with the points system although all 4 points are indeed given out.

Friend of mine hit 24 today and got the ability point on xbox, so it’s not universal. Might be related to character slot?

(wolfnemesis75) #25

I will work on dude No 2 tonight and let you know if it happens to him.

(thesuzukimethod) #26

weird. was not presented with this option (ps3) afaik - was it an active choice it asked you to make or did you have to find it in a menu somewhere…

(Exedore) #27

Yeah the XP you earn at level 20 being applied is a known one, I considered it a nice bonus for those that have played a lot at level 20.

This is proving a tricky one to isolate though; as you’ve pointed out, it’s not all that consistent…

I’m not worried about it, i just thought maybe i missed something obvious (this is my nature)…

i’m getting plenty of points anyway…really like the new maps

I hit 24 tonight and got the point. Could be a US based glitch? (Im from Oz)

Funny thing is I used it to buy a rank 2 ability!

That is why Nephandys’ favorite operative (sorry, name escapes me right now) leveled up to 21 at the of his first round in the game. But I immediately wondered if that was the source of the glitch. They played a lot at level 20. I did not. I had to work post AoC to level up my character, and I had no issues when I reached level 24 … I received my ability point as expected.

(wolfnemesis75) #31

I may be mistaken and gotten 1 ability point as soon as I played a match on AOC DLC. I was in a private match and had lots of folks join, so did not get a chance to back out. When I got to level 23 I was able to use ability points. When I got to 24 I did not get an ability point. I plan on respecing all my characters once they get to 24 because I want to make super soldiers, and I will check to see if I have all the points for 24 levels. I probably do I am guessing.

Which one?

I got the point at 24

Command post firewall for operative.

I’ve become a bit of a CP capture junkie. The last few Brink sesh’s Ive had there has been quite a bit of spawn camping or fortifying of the objective room. My teammates keep doin the cannon fodder thing, so I figure a health boost and pip boost are the best chance they have.

Seems to be working for me. My CP captures have turned the tides around 80% of the time.

Too many ignore the CP to their peril, and end up scratching their heads a few minutes later when the match ends rapidly, and my team is getting away with the Agent.

Firewall CP, Upgrade CP, Improved Weapon Buff and Increased Health Buff have been a must have asap on all my characters. Along with all the generel abillities, except grenade shooting.

I got a point at 24.

If you want to get any better in this game, learn how to shoot grenades, seriously.

(Runeforce) #38

I guess, now that I found out about the specialization limit, that it would not hurt.

(FireWorks) #39

It really gives you the edge in so many fights…

(nephandys) #40

Grenade shooting is definitely an ability that is a must-have on most characters and was almost completely overlooked at launch.
