Capture the Flag (well, the “Football” variant where both teams try to push the flag into each others’ bases) would be great with these gameplay mechanics. Think Trainyard’s last objective, but both teams have dropoff points and they’re fighting over the datacore/drug sample/whatever.
Why is there no CTF mode?
the reason it isnt in yet is that it would take away from current map and execution development. I would rather wait 2 months and get dome and execution then wait 6 months and get CTF as well. we need the extra maps sooner
I would love to see CTF but I agree that it is far more important to get some new maps out.
CTF isn’t required right now, if at all.
DB doesn’t have to go down the route of most shooters by pumping out a typical pre-req of DM/TDM/CTF/ S&D etc etc.
Games that do this don’t retain a dedicated following, in fact it fractures the player base and in the long term it hurts the community.
I feel that even Execution is dangerously heading into CoD territory.
You don’t have to include every gametype to cater to your audience
Example - CS is a basic game type that doesn’t feel as though it needs to be anything more than what it is, yet still remains popular as ever.
The Devs just need to stick to the basics of what makes this game great. Obj and Stopwatch.
More maps are needed. Not necessarily more Mercs, some Mercs purposefully are useless beyond their primary weapon. So maybe some more loadout variants are needed.
CTF sounds awesome, but we’d need symmetrical maps, which we have none of right now.
I would prefer something like hardpoint from titanfall where you have to hold three points. The team that holds more points over time wins. Doesn’t need symmetric maps.
Agree with Birdhorse on that. DB does not need CTF. It has its own distinct objective/stopwatch modes and we definitely need MORE maps. So pls devs, MORE maps when available.
If the Splash Damage devs have learnt anything from Battlefield, it’s that it’s a terrible idea to try to make all of your maps fit all of your gamemodes - anyone who has played BF4 knows how some maps just don’t work with Rush or Team Deathmatch. BF3 however made specific maps for each specific gamemode (Davamand Peak was for Rush, for example) and this allowed the gamemodes to be far more entertaining to play.
Please, SD, do NOT try to implement multiple gamemodes on the same maps.
Why not add TDM or other non-objective based game types in this objective based game?
What’s so non-objective about capture the flag? The only difference is that both teams have an objective, instead of one team set on accomplishing and the other set on stopping them.
Yeah, both teams have the exact same objective and use the exact same kind of tactics. It’s probably the most boring way to do something like that. Furthermore the objective doesn’t change as the game progresses, it remains the same kind of thing. It’s also why I dislike Terminal and Underground since you do the same thing in both parts, but at least the main battle area changes while in CTF it would remain the same.
What I rather have is some sort of game where the “attackers” are trying to break through a gate while the “defenders” are trying destroy their forward spawn. If the attackers win it progresses normally but if the defenders win than the roles switch and the defenders are now trying destroy the attackers’ mobile command. If the attackers hold out long enough they are given an opportunity to attack the final objective. Which would be a lot more objective oriented than playing Football.
With the fast merc i dont think it would work well, you take sparks and you can run the whole map by flanking easy since you have the speed of a train
chop all the maps in half and mirror them from the final obj out. Done.
I really want other game options, but i will wait in favour of new maps and execution (S&D a little different anyways).
both domination and CTF would work great in this game. Really hope they put it in one day. The defensive/offensive mercs plus different mobility&hp finally would play a role: as of this moment you always want HP over speed, since you make a push as a whole team anyways.
