The only merc I don’t have out of the obsidians is Aimee so I really can’t justify buying a pack with 4 mercs that I already own. This is a kick in the face to me because I already have these mercs. How is this fair? The obsidian pack is more fair to new players than it is to veterans. But I definitely can’t justify spending over $60 USD which is almost $80 in my region for 5 loadout cards. 5 loadout cards equates to way more than the loadout cards and the mercs together. I think this is a terrible decision and there should be a merc-less bundle of obsidian cards for less than the bundle with the mercs. Yeah I can just buy the bundle with mercs for less than buying them individually, but why should I have to buy a bundle I already own 4/10 of the items of just to get these loadouts? That’s literally wasting money. If I have bought these mercs with real money the total costs after buying the pack with the mercs goes above the cost of buying the loadout cards individually. For supporting you and playing this game earlier than others you are punished if you want these obsidians. Not cool Splash Damage, not cool.
Why is there no bundle for the obsidian loadouts without the mercs?
They could just refund mercs you have with in game credits, like most sensible companies do in packs like those, but nope fuck you.
Dick move SD.
The obsidians ingame cost 13$ each (2 of them cost 15$ but let’s ignore that part)
13*5 = 65$.
I don’t know about other regions but in my region the pack is 50$, which seems fair because it’s basically only paying for 4 obsidians and you get the mercs as a bonus.
If it costs 80$ in your region, then you should just buy them individually ingame. You probably don’t even play all 5 mercs so just buy the ones you want

Btw
Since I already own all the mercs is the price going to be lower for the obsidian pack
And does it contain all future mercs as well.
Just want to know before I throw away 40 bucks. The All Merc Pack contains all current and all future Mercs
The Obsidian Operative Pack contains 5 Mercs and an Obsidian Operative skin for each
And the Elite All Merc Pack bundle contains both of the aboveThere are no discounts or refunds if you already own any of the Mercs in these packs

I don’t think you understand what I said. If I buy them individually it will cost me almost $80 in my region because of converting USD to AUD. The bundle with the mercs costs almost $60 AUD, but the problem here is I already own 4 out of 5 of the mercs in this bundle. This is unfair to people who have supported Splash Damage earlier than others who would be buying the packs now. Sine I have already bought these mercs I am wasting a good percentage of the money I would be spending on this pack. And if I have spent real money on the mercs that I have bought then the price increases to about $80 if I buy the bundle, and $100 if I buy the cards individually. The problem here is that you are punished for supporting Dirty Bomb early if you want to buy this pack. You are only rewarded with the good prices if you haven’t supported Dirty Bomb in this way. This should NOT work this way. You should not be punished for supporting this game earlier than others, but it really feels like I am. I have waited a long time for these obsidian cards, and the only way for me to get them is to literally waste money on things I already own. How is this fair?
Sure the price of the bundle is cheaper than buying the cards individually, but wouldn’t buying the 5 loadout cards in a bundle be even cheaper than that if it were possible? I find it hard to believe that the mercs are not considered in the price of the bundle whatsoever.
And for your information I play a lot of Stoker, Fletcher, Phoenix and Arty. I don’t have Aimee so don’t play her, but would if I had her. Regardless the problem here is it is a waste of money to anyone who has already bought parts of these packs and supported Splash Damage. It would be even worse if I had already gotten one of the obsidian cards.
TL;DR It is an insult to ask veterans to spend real money on something they may have already spent real money on just to get something at an extremely cheaper price. Were it a small price difference it wouldn’t matter so much, but it is a considerable difference, and would be an even bigger difference if a bundle of obsidian cards without mercs were available.
Yeah, I was kind of annoyed by that too. Not sure who’s gonna spend 60$ for an elite pack unless their familiar with the game and really like it, in which case they might already have several mercs.
It just feels to me that not only are they shooting themselves in the foot with these bundles no veteran wanted, but also just how ridiculously overpriced obsidians are in general. I feel like they could make a lot more money if people weren’t being scared away by the price of a small DLC or indie game, just for a single card. It’s not like it costs SD anything to make those cards anyways

Actualy it does. It may not cost anything to physicaly manufacture, but it still has developement costs. They had to pay some one to design it, render it, test it, ect.

I’m pretty sure that the currency in which they are sold individually is in dollars and Steam automatically converts it at whatever rate it is at the moment you buy it. At least this is how it is for me. So except maybe a few cents difference (because they have to round it and etc.), it should cost exactly the same for everyone.
The DLC price may be different.
But think about it like this: the mercs are not a part of the bundle, the bundle is for obsidians. They only give the mercs as a bonus for buying all the 5 obsidians, but you are only paying for the 5 obsidians. You are basically getting 1 merc for free if you buy the DLC, they didn’t have to give you that 1 merc either.
Sure it sucks you don’t get 200,000 credits back but they didn’t have to offer the mercs in the first place and it’s nice they did it for newer players.
I myself own all the mercs, but if I had 50$ on Steam I would probably buy the bundle even though I don’t get to enjoy the 5 free mercs from it because I already have them

That’s not what I was referring to, my wording might not have been that great. I meant once the design is done, SD can sell as many cards as they want, so supply isn’t an actual issue. They’re using their price to enforce a false sense of rarity, when in reality they could sell as many copies of the same card as they want without any additional production costs.
I meant once the design is done, SD can sell as many cards as they want, so supply isn’t an > actual issue.
But that means the rarity of it goes down, thus it would be less attractive for players to buy it. You skins / loadouts need to be rare enough to have people purchase it. It’s a balancing act, as it always is with F2P games.
But on topic: I’d really love to be able to buy these packages without the mercs. I already got all mercs.
I caved and bought it with the all merc pack for an extra $5 usd. I guess I can justify $25 for all future mercs and the 4 I don’t own and $25 for 5 obsidians. Please just don’t now release a mercless pack for the obsidians because I will be quite the salty fella if I just wasted money on mercs when I didn’t need to.

When I’m talking about my reigons currency it’s because I converted the USD into AUD because it displays as USD in Australia. I’m well aware how currency conversion works, I was simply pointing out that it’s quite excessive prices. I’m not talking at all about any difference between paying between two regions.

They’re going to release a mercless version of the pack some time down the line. They always do. But it’ll probably be after they release a few more obsidians.
No business in the universe sells the individual parts of a bundle package unless they’re specifically discounting all of the items in the bundle, and then grouping them together to make them easier to sell.
I mean think about it
Have you ever been able to go buy a game console/game/game controller combo and say “Oh I already have the console and the controller so can I get a refund on that please?”
No, you get the entire bundle or you pay full price for the parts separately.
That’s how it works
