Why is the game reading my browser cache?

So umm what’s this all about? @MissMurder

Seeing this I don’t feel comfortable launching the game.

And then there’s this about Xigncode: http://www.reddit.com/r/DFO/comments/30tcb6/xigncode_looks_at_all_files_youve_accessed_in_the/

For the same reasons that Valve read’s your browser cache with VAC. This is nothing new and it’s fairly common. But Reddit people sometimes don’t do their research and like to start drama.

Definitely not a fan.

Would be more on board if I thought these systems were effective, but I have no experience to support that they are.

Most likely it’s looking for the very same thing that VAC looks for when it comes to cheats that have built in DRM that are phoning home to particular servers. Your cache gets checked to see if there is evidence of that as a lot of hacks use that particular system.

It’s been going on for years and if you’ve used PB or played any Valve games it’s doing the same thing. ESEA is incredibly more invasive as well. But it’s been proven over the years to have the cleanest community and servers by far. Of course you have to balance that against some of their past issues of abuse (and why I won’t use them anymore).

Necessary evils if you really want to combat cheaters at all fronts. Which most people are asking for, so…

On the upside, this means we get to complain either way. Yay.
