Why is the EV hitbox so big?

Noticed while playing Fragger and Fletcher lately lots of my grenades/stickies keep bouncing out of thin air when I try to launch them over the EV while pushing it.

Why is the body so high?

It’s just a screenshot from in game with show collisions on, so I can only assume that is the hitbox?

Those moments when empty space blocks your shots when it could be obvious headshots… Destroyed EV is such a nice cover and worst bullet blocker ever at the same time.

Really, better than Turtle’s shield KAPPA

Can you damage it if you shoot above the model, but at the hitbox?

That’s very true, annoying if you’re trying to shoot someone standing behind it and you clearly have line of sight!

The collision box is bigger than the hitbox.
Here is the collision box. You can’t damage EV without firing on it, but some objects can be blocked when you throw them through the collision box.
Some collision box need to be rework (ammo crates, EV…) because throwing stickies or grenade when you’re behind the EV is nearly impossible

It’s not just the EV, the other day I was sniping and a Proxy was repairing the ramp on Chapel, I could only see her head, I shot it 3 or 4 times and it just wasn’t working, all of my shots were blocked by an invisible hitbox. So yeah hitboxes are pretty terrible in this game in general.

A bit unrelated but the hitbox of the bushes like in Overground Execution or Trainyard Objective are like in rectangular prisms or something and I noticed many times for sure the bullet should’ve hit but the bush blocked the bullet. Can anyone confirm?

Open the map offline if you know the name and type “show collisions” in console, that will tell you. I’d check but I don’t know the name of the map.

I think Dome’s name might have changed, because my game crashes when I try open obj_map_6, and the loading screen before it crashes has the orange BETA box on it.

Dome is now just “obj_dome”, I think.

Dockyard is “obj_dockyard” and Gallery should be “exe_gallery”.

On my PC trying to load these two causes the game to crash after briefly showing the loading screen.

Same tbh. Think they might have taken them out of the game for now or something.

Right. You can only load in the maps that are in the following directory folder:
C:/Program Files/Steam.steamapps/common/Dirty Bomb/ShooterGame/CookedPC/Maps

If it’s not there, you can’t load the map in.

Wow I never noticed how tall it is. But what I did notice is how the EV wheels make it really horrible and it happened to me so many times that I got stuck between the wheels and in front of the EV.
I don’t really see any problem with the EV hitbox being so high but it makes sense to lower it a bit to match the model, and also remove the wheel hitboxes

Try playing nader… You fire a grenade at any gab filled with nothing but thin air at it gets bounced back by some invisible wall.

Didn’t used to have this issue before - you could shoot between railings in Chapel, into the generator room of Underground etc… But now your grenades just bounce back with no other explanations than way to large hit boxes… or whatever.
