Why is the Dirty Bomb community, so against kicking people?

(DMaster2) #21

That would kick me out of half of the EU servers, and i live in Italy…

(p4v) #22

Huh? I was just kicked yesterday for trying kicking out a guy who called everyone with better scores hackers. Imagine this. You try to kick a guy who swears on voip and chat. The vote fails. And then he calls a vote to kick you and it passes. B)

Oh, I was also kicked yesterday for joining a public game but I was assigned to a team with guys who were from the same clan. They kicked me instantly.

(Gung-ho) #23

I disagree that kicking someone new is always wrong. When you’re playing on a server where a number of skilled players have joined onto it can become a terrible experience for a new or grossly outclassed player. Not only their playing experience is negatively affected but those of the other players as it can ruin the team balance.

I think a lot of the time though people aren’t against kicking they are oblivious to what’s going

(blisteringOwlNest) #24

one thing that commonly happens to me is that I’ll join a server and immediately be voted to be kicked. when I ask why, sometimes people will tell me its because I’m against them. The reason their trying to get me kicked is so that the teams are unfair and they get an advantage.

(MarsRover) #25

That’s treating the symptom instead of the cause - free for all server browser with no casual MM/forced server tiers/community servers/whatever. If I somehow joined a server with 10+ CBT veterans they will trash me. The problem is that those people most of the time are distributed among 10 servers making the experience miserable both for them and their opponents. Same thing if I join a server where the entire enemy team has less levels than my 35 and I proceed to outsnipe lvl 2 Redeyes with an SMG through their own smoke.

Play in your region and you will be fine.

(Maggot) #27

I frequently get kick voted minutes into joining a match. Thankfully none of those have gone through, so far.

Unfortunately I hover around 60ms, so one hiccup and I can be over 100ms… lets make it 150ms and call it a deal

The cold hard truth is

Brain not engaged when gaming

(SnakekillerX) #30

TL:DR

Basically, I won’t kick someone unless someone explains why they are requesting a kick.
I will look first to see if maybe he is AFK, or lagging up a storm… or if he is talking shit on chat or mic spamming… but if it is not clearly apparent as to why this person deserves a kick I will not vote it through.

And no, someone sucking at the game is not reason for a kick. How will they get better if you keep kicking them.

(Black) #31

I don’t it would be fun for a newcomer lvl 6 to play in a server with 10+…

(ImSploosh) #32

I had this happen to me while playing with a friend. We joined a lobby where there were like 5 members in the same clan. 4/5 landed on the same team as me and they decided to kick me for no reason whatsoever. The sad part is, they can do this because they’re the majority on the team so there’s nothing I could do to stop it. My guess is they kicked me just so that there other scrub player could join their team. I’m pretty sure they lost the match as well because while they started off by dying, I started off doing good.

Experiences like that will easily drive new players away. Thankfully it’s happened only once to me. People always abuse the system.

Usually the votes I see people calling that don’t make sense are shuffle votes in round 2 of a stop watch game or shuffle votes near the end off the game because they’re on the losing team and hoping to be switched to the winning one.

For some reason there’s a serious issue with the low level brain power of the average pubber who refuses to f1 to kick people who should obviously be kicked. If I have died 3 times and seen a guy standing in spawn doing nothing, he’s definitely AFK. I usually stay alive a long time too, so this makes the point even stronger. For some reason when I try to kick AFK players (or mic spammers) the players generally don’t vote. Why is there no inactivity kick for pub matches but it exists in private matches? It’s more likely to be coordinated in a private match (plus, since private matches are so buggy and people keep getting disconnected it’s more common that someone would want to idle in spawn to let the game finish as a 4vs4). A private match holds people who all knew eachother prior to being in the match. In-fact it doesn’t belong in a private match at all, there should be no idle kicking. This only belongs in pubs.

Another issue with the vote system is the voting is bound to F1 and F2 which are two of the keys used to change mercs. What were they thinking with this? Sometimes you select another merc while voting because you can’t include your vote right when the vote is called, you have to wait. If you press it immediately it won’t do anything so sometimes people tend to spam press the vote to “make sure it goes through” and end up changing to another class. Sometimes when votes are called the game changes you to another class even if you never voted.

You can’t votekick people on the enemy team, Amerika.

The vote system is marjorly flawed in another way. People who don’t vote get put into the voting process as a “no” vote. This is incredibly stupid and probably one of the reasons why it’s so difficult to kick anyone. As some others have said, it’s also pretty hard to notice the voting. I remember in ET there was a “ding” noise when a vote was called, this alone would probably help.

TLDR:

  1. Dumb pub noobs need to start voting, and when the obvious only correct choice is “yes” they need to start pressing “F1”.
  2. Vote binds should be re-bindable and not default to F1 and F2 (or the same with merc selection)
  3. Voting is impossible right after a vote is called, would be nice to be able to vote at this time.
  4. Votes are too hard to notice and many players miss them. Audio alerts would be nice.
  5. There should be an inactivity kick in pubs like there is in private matches.
  6. People who don’t care to vote should be counted as as “yes” vote rather than a “no”.

I also have considered this and like to explain to the team in voice and chat why a vote is being called. They still refuse to kick the AFK people. When I see a teammate who consitently does stupid things I vote kick them too. The reason is if it’s something incredibly simple I’d rather not have them playing. It doesn’t take skill to play with common sense. If they can’t figure out they need to shoot the guy defusing and just stand there looking right at them while they defuse, I don’t want them on my team. This is the purpose of voting, if the team feels the same way they can assist me in removing this problematic player. However, until the vote system is reworked it’s pretty lame and almost nobody gets kicked. And it’s not about them being lesser skilled, there’s an instructional video played before each match and a tutorial. If the player didn’t take the time to do the tutorial, knowing that they don’t have a clue what they’re doing it’s still their fault for making poor decisions. They actually won’t ever learn unless people start kicking them and acknowledging their laziness and unwillingness to actually go and learn things before jumping in to them. It’s much like the “teach a man to fish” thing… think of it that way.

(Aazhyd) #34

There was an inactivity kick, but I think it was removed for unknown reasons.

I was in an Execution match recently with at least 3 rounds to go, then had to leave and forgot to exit the game (very rare!!). When I got back some time later, I noticed the NEXT game had started and was already in round FOUR. So I was AFK for at least SIX rounds.

When I tried to play again, a vote kick actually got through and kicked me. Lol.

(Black) #35

I don’t know why alot of people are against this.
Why is kicking a new comer in a lobby in order to balance out a team considered unacceptable?

A single digit level player should never be playing in a lobby with double digits, it’s just going to not only give the newcomer a hard time but put a burden on the team.

Now I know what your going to say: “Oh but you were a noob once”, and thats completely true. We were all once a noob. However when i first got on, I went to servers were people were low level like me because I understood that in servers with high level people I would get destroyed and become a burden to my team.

I don’t want to kick people for this. They should simply take a hint, this server has players that skill level is too high for me and leave.

(SpectraBlitz) #36

I have seen votes initiated to kick new players (level 1/2, stock cards) on execution servers that they have quite clearly been quick joined into by level 30+ players, simply because the new players have little to no clue how execution works, as is isn’t exactly clear that they need to defuse a bomb on a pylon.

For a new player, on their first ever match on this game, how confusing is it to be screamed at by team “DEFUSE BOMB AT A”
Imagine what is going through their head.
How can I tell who’s an enemy?
Where is the bomb?
How can I tell A/B apart?

For this reason, unless someone is being overly abusive, mic spamming, AFK (not just loading, but was playing and has suddenly stopped for a few minutes/rounds), or something similar, I will almost never vote yes to a vote kick.

(RyePanda) #37

Because people are innocent until proven guilty. I won’t vote yes on a kick just because someone says “Press F1 he’s a hacker 100%”. I’ll see for myself, then decide.

(kopyright) #38

Maybe it would happen more often if those initiating a kick vote would state their reasons in the chat rather than just leave everybody else guessing…

I wonder indeed how the idle kick works. I’ve only tested it myself so that I joined a 5on6 game (as 6th) and idled until 1 minute later or so I got the automatic notification on my screen “You’re about to be kicked”. After which I moved and remained playing, never actually tried if it will kick.

And while it’s not exactly bad thing why people should “advertise” their votes a little before initiating them, for example simply stating “AFK in spawn for the 4rd spawnwave, I’ll start kick vote” before starting it up. I’ve gotten quite a lot better reactions after that, I usually even wait for 10 seconds after my statement to see if I get any reaction in chat. Bad thing is the vote screen is still so hilariously unnoticeable.
