Why is spectating allowed?

(Fractures) #1

Many people abuse this privilege to stack teams & it’s almost impossible to pass a shuffle

I don’t think spectating is wrong. It’s annoying how a spectator takes a player slot. I only spectate when I suspect a cheater. But it feels bad knowing im hurting a team.

If you suspect someone of cheating, how will get a proof without spectator mode ?

That’s the purpose of spectating : being able to see how others are doing, so you can learn things or report suspicious players.

If you suspect someone of cheating, just report them and carry on. Videos usually don’t make any difference and the spectator client lags behind anyway, so you can’t accurately say if someones cheating or not if it isn’t obvious anyways.

It’s pretty clear for aimbots despite the lag. If someone’s aimbotting, you’ll see quick snaps to the head and generally little recoil, just straight shots no matter how the target is moving. When it lags/doesn’t display exactly what is happening, you still see those quick snaps as well as precise aiming. You’ll also see the constant headshots in the killfeed or you’ll see these people kill 3 people bum rushing them within seconds.

I’m not sure if videos make a difference when reporting, but my guess is they do. Every little bit helps! Right?

Same thing with wallhacks - you can see someone tracking opponents that he can’t possibly see etc. Recording hackers is fine, just don’t post it all over youtube/forums/reddit, as it only gives free advertising for the cheat makers and free attention cheat users often seek. I’ll just put here a great video about cheating that @Amerika did recently:

Not necessarily dude. Aimbots these days are pretty insane. Someone posted that video on the forums a few months back of someone explaining why aimbots were harder to spot these days and it’s because of everything they can do. The one the guy was showing let you control literally everything. How fast it snaps, how much it snaps, what fov it uses, whether it hits the head or body or both, how much delay you want on your shots to stop insta-obvious-aimbot shots. You could even tell it how often you wanted it to miss. With everything on minimal settings, it’s virtually impossible to tell.

So basically, some of them these days are pretty damn untraceable. I know at least two people who play Dirty Bomb who use aimbots on low settings, and I’ve reported them more than 10 times each, but even with video evidence they’ve never been banned. I can only assume it is because of how “human” the aimbot looks now, but anyone with enough experience can see past that. Unfortunately whoever handles the hacker reports, doesn’t.

I love spectating when I need a small break from playing, but yeah, the fact it takes a team slot is kind of shit.

They should just make all the servers 16 players, but still have 5-6-7-8 man team sizes. If the game is full, you can join the server and start playing when someone leaves.

That’s how Quake (and I’m sure other games do too) does it. All servers are 16man, but if the team size is 6v6 you just join in spec and wait for a spot.

The possibility to get a cheater scum out of the game is much more important and better than reducing the cnaces of the team by some percents. It’s not like a team with only 1 player less gonna lose in every case.

Nearly all of the cheaters I’ve witnessed on Dirty Bomb have their own way of avoiding being kicked by manipulating the Vote system, whether it is completely breaking it (I have seen cheaters who get the vote system stuck on “A vote is already started against this player” for 20 minutes) or flooding it with multiple other votes you so physically can’t kick them (which is still classed as breaking the system).
