Why does the same guy work for both factions?

Kinda funny when you hear the same voice on both teams.
(Unless there’s something we don’t know…)

PMCs have absurd amounts of money. Jackal could easily bribe any merc working for the CDA to join them and vice versa.

If you’re wondering why two of the same mercs can exist between different factions within an actual match, it’s obviously just for gameplay reasons… or cloning.

(Ctrix) #3

They’re mercs. They play for who pays.
You can have the same character twice on the same team too. It’s a design decision.
In LoL ranked matches, you can’t have the same hero twice in the same game. But in casual you can. Same design in Overwatch too.
Gameplay over story.

Oh I thought we were talking about the announcers.

(brennanfreak) #5

I was talking about the announcers.

(Ctrix) #6

There’s announcers?

(Mr-Penguin) #7

Uh…twin brothers? LARPers? Clones? The same dude, but he’s screwing with both teams at the same time?

I guess that works.

(FilterDecay) #9

all the characters in game are basically psychopaths.

I loved the voice acting in pre-alpha with the serious military guy with the static.
It seemed so more realistic.

I never thought about the announcer sides that much, but I thought attackers always had the “DEFUSE THE FUCKING C4!!” guy, and defenders had the “oooh well” lady

(Yes) #12

“Defuse the fucking C4” for attack?

oh oops, yeah, switcheroo!

But the lady also has “Defend the pumpkin trolls”.

It honestly would sorta make sense for the guy to always announce the attackers and the girl to always announce the defenders (or vice versa). Before, there wasn’t any clear notion of factions, so having the same guy coordinate an attack on one map and then defend the next one made sense. Now that there is the CDA and Jackal, assigning one announcer to the CDA and the other to Jackal could work well.

Having 5 copies of the same guy fighting on both sides of the fight will still look a tad odd, but there isn’t much you can do about it (limiting people to 1 copy of a merc per side in pub games wouldn’t really work, much less 1 copy of a merc per game).

Are you telling me there’s something wrong with 16 Fletchers in one lobby? :o

As for announcers, there’s a guy and a girl, though I don’t actually know if they’re properly put in for continuity. I’m pretty sure it’ll be like Hardline.

I kind of wish game developers could write script for female announcers that didn’t sound so submissive compared to the male announcer. Ah well.
