Why does DB not reward being backfill in CMM?

Matches that are almost over after half a team ragequit from being spawncamped on the first objective are pretty typical of what to expect when you join a match as backfill. So why are players who are forced to sit through that not given some sort of bonus to encourage them to help out instead of just finding a new match?

Currently DB doesn’t reward you at all for being backfill, no credits or mission progress. Hell, it doesn’t even register your existence in the ending leaderboard. So basically it’s just a way to waste a credit booster. But, I’m assuming this is a bug, so I’ll give SD the benefit of the doubt (albeit a pretty major bug that should have been noticed, but oh well).
Even when you ignore the bug though, it’s pretty bad. You’ll almost never topscore when you join a match late, meaning you won’t get the credit bonus for doing so even if you completely turned the match around. This alone is enough of a reason to give players a bonus.

As it is, I usually just leave backfill matches unless it’s early in the match. Maybe I’m a bit of an ass, but being backfill is just annoying, and there’s absolutely no reason to waste your time with it as it is.

Backfill is just silly for a short obj match. It can make sense in SW, where such rewards make perfect sense

I have been thrown into matches of which I only heard the commander’s voice before being redirected to the post match screen.

If you gave out rewards for backfilling you should take into consideration the time a player actually spends in the match.

@kopyright disagree. Imo backfilling is an option that likely sacrifices your gameplay experience, but improves it for everyone else on the server.

A flat 250-500 credit fee for EVERY backfilled and finished match would quickly allow for backfilling in any situation. Backfillers would saturate the market, so the reward wouldnt be super easy to get, CMM games would get a new player joining asap, some players get an extra 1000 credits per day - no big deal and win-win-win

@Szakalot The problem I see is that this would actually drive people towards leaving a match they know they cannot win in the hopes to find another already running match to backfill in order to grab some easy extra XP. If we reward backfillers, we should double that reward for players who actually stay in the match from start to finish.

I still think backfilling during the last 30-60 seconds of a match should not be rewarded as there will come little improvement from it, nor will it be super-fun for the player himself as match time will almost be over once the next spawn wave starts. This only applies to fixed match ending times and the final objective of course.

There needs to be something in cmm that blocks backfills at a certain point. Im tired of being placed in matches that end before inspawn in or the second i spawn in. Its a waste of time and anoying epecialy after waiting 5+ min to get into a match.

I agree with @Mc1412013. Better to just not backfill a player at all after a certain point than give them a flat rate just for showing up for the final ending cinematic.

@kopyright

a) people leaving games do not advance their missions, dont get xp and credits, most of them probably dont care about credit gains anyways
b) ideally, a flat fee would saturate the market: queueing in CMM would give no guarantee of getting into a backfilled game, so cannot be relied on for a quick buck
c ) just as easy to introduce penalties for dropping CMM games: e.g. every consecutive finished game in CMM increases credit gains by 5-10% up to 30-40% max, carries over game sessions. Dropping a game resets the booster
d ) backfilling players into <1 min games is probably pointless indeed (maybe restricted to final objective only)

Getting stomped or being stuck on a 4vs6 probably won’t advance their mission either. >:) But I get what you’re saying.

I’ve always wondered by CMM doesn’t give you the option to manually backfill a match.

When choosing to play CMM, you should be able to join the queue OR view in progress matches that need players. Then you can fill yourself in, or join the queue. And maybe the queue puts you in a new game, maybe it backfills you anyway; but in that regard, people will have a faster means of joining the match if they don’t mind joining a more than likely losing match.

You don’t have to worry about it soon.

And thus the cycle of playing everything but DB continues

I have too much God of War and Uncharted and Ratchet and Clank to play to make time for DB anyway
