Melee Phantom isn’t very good right now. That isn’t the same thing as Phantom, who still has access to a Kek10, Crotzni and an extremely abusable shield being worthless.

lol his refractive armor isn’t even worth the time anymore. Even if you’re sitting in a corner at a distance you can still be easily seen after the Fine Tuning, true they’re still working on him, but right now there isn’t much good with him. His ability is useless right now. I’m fine with his melee/run speed etc. I’m just upset with the cloaking. I mean he was already easy to spot before the Fine Tuning update. As well he was useless in competitive play as well as most people knew what they were doing and actually could see you from a distance BEFORE the update. I don’t think he’ll ever have a chance in comp lol.

I didn’t say cloaking. I said the absorb shield. Using and abusing this in firefights makes him an absolute beast and allows him to escape a lot of situations where other mercs die.

I’m not saying I don’t want the refractive armor fixed…because I would like it to go back to what it was. But it would also need to lose the absorb which is what was incredibly broke and still is with the class.

Seriously, play him as a gun class instead of charging people as melee. Make people empty half their mag into you dodging with your shield up then unload on them. You can easily win 2v1’s in this manner. You can cross sections of the map easily without taking any damage due to the absorb (has nothing to do with being seen). Just go try that. Stop treating him like he’s a class in Chivalry or the spy from TF2 and play him like every other merc in the game and you’ll suddenly understand what I’m saying. You’ll probably change your opinion rather quickly.

@Amerika I’m gonna take your word on it and use my silver Phantom w/ Crotzni instead of my Cobalt w/ Blishlok and ONLY use the refractive armor to get out of a firefight

Except he didn’t say only to get out of a fight :slight_smile: It is useful for crossing open area without take damage(so ducking between cover) because the absorb takes the damage and for wasting their ammunition during a fight. It has more than one use, but primarily focus on using the shield part, not the invisibility part. How you use it is up to you, but people really are focusing on the wrong part of his ability too often.

@Amerika @Ardez I’ll admit that was quite a nice strategy. Ended the match 10/8. Not as good as I had hoped, but it was pretty good. Did 2 secondary obj. and planted 2 C4s. Thanks for the advice.

You basically dodge left to right with the armor up and they empty half their mag as you dump in to them. Or use it to get away if you’ve not put the armor up for a while and it’s recharged. I do it pretty often in this video.

lol day before the fine tuning update I got a Phantom Cobalt from a reg case and bought Phantom. If only I knew he’d be over-nerfed lol. My luck = The worst. I’ve even opened 100+ CS:GO cases (Spent over $200) and only gotten 1 red and 2 pinks. Rest were blue/purple. The red was a Battle-Scarred AWP | Hyper Beast ($30… so cheap asf) and the pinks weren’t even worth a key. I even have gone into csgo betting pots and have never won once. I know how you feel…my luck is horrible as well lol I’ve been getting nothing but leads recently…I can’t recall the last time I got something better than a lead
