To forget…how long? urrrm, I forget

I started mapping because there weren’t enough suitable maps for the mod I was playing (CPMA). I continued to map because I enjoyed both the process of crafting a map (not much creative outlet at work) and seeing other people play/compete/enjoy my work.

At 30, I probably ought to qualify as ‘grown up’.

Why do YOU map?

I do it otherwise I get beaten with a giant shoe.

Fame and glory, of course.

I’m 42 years old - mapping since the original doom AND I still play with Lego’s.

Well, I map to make maps  And I can map a long time without releasing a map

Most people map for two reasons. To get a profession as a Level Designer or to extent the life of the game.
I know that mostly all LD’s take breaks to surf the web or even look for more reference.
The problem with timing is most new mappers tend to release their map soon, but the truth about great maps is that they’re made in few months. So if you work on a map, please don’t rush it, plan very carefully for the gameflow and architecture.
