Why are you playing competitive if you have zero practice?
Why do we still have "Win X Competitive Mission(s)"

Too complete the mission for credits? LOL! The way MOST of us make credits is that we complete the missions for extra credits. I realize you probably make a ton of them playing with people on for 10 hours a day that are yelling “Get Stomped!” on the channel, but for those of us with only an hour or so after work, those missions are a good investment.
BTW, I get a notification every time someone updates the thread and I get 5 minutes per billable hour for personal use (honor system) so it’s a nice diversion from endless spreadsheets.

Why people are playing competitive,if they are forced by missions??
Edit(aka answer):Because they need credits for mercs. It is not like “zero practise” but some of players do not want to play competitive only and be masters, veterans etc.
It’s funny, I was only talking to you in the first place because you said you couldn’t rank up as a healer. Now you’re saying you don’t even want to play competitive.
Also, not to brag but

I’m good at a role. I bet when forced to play a healer your “Jumpy Shotgun (WTF are these Q&E buttons?) Aura” is awesome.
I use the blishlock
Ah yes, its good because it attracts the wrong people into comp, right.
And so you’re someone important to say who is wrong for competitive?
Comp is where someone will come to compete, it wheres someone will try their best to win, Comp isn’t a place where you just join JUST For the credits.
And because of that people can’t just join and stay if they like it? Most of competitive people play in teams and not random if they’re so “competitive” so why does if hurt you if someone’s playing a comp game or 2 for missions? If they see they can’t do it, they quit the mission and make a rage-thread here rather than trying a hundred of games to get the mission. But let me guess, you rage at your teammates if they don’t do exactly what you want in competitive, too?

I missed this earlier somehow. That’s why the mission is screwed up. The mission we are talking about is “Win X competitive matches” for X credits. I like to win but at the lower rungs, competitive often isn’t. You WILL however have people playing JUST to get credits from the mission in question and there is the rub.
That is my whole argument here, the mission needs to go!
And I say there needs to be an incentive for the scrubs to get into competitive so they can get good.
Without scrubs getting good, there will be no competitive matchmaking.

I wish you had posted the experience tab. I would have liked to have seen the breakdown for combat vs. support. I’m imagining your teammates yelling “medic” right now while you’re busy jumping off walls going “Momma needs those headshots to get ACE!” A 13/14 KD gives me some hope you did some healing.
That isn’t a bad score if you don’t play Aura or Sparks much but I get better scores than that all the time. After you get 5-6 of the Revive Spree plus 1 or 2 of the 10-20 Revive badges, you don’t need to do a lot of killing to get into the 6k or 7k range, but competitive seems for ranking to treat those badges like crap and Killing Spree, Unstoppable and Godlike badges like they are all Godlike. I understand the guy who gets 31K is considered awesome, I also know that I had to spam medipacks to him or he was standing on my healing station the entire time. It would be nice if I got a little piece of that somehow but apparently I better go out and hunt some people down myself or I’m a lazy slacker…and THAT’S why I don’t want to play competitive.
People at SD:
SD Guy #1: Ok, players are complaining that “Win X matches” mission leads to stacked teams and disbalances games. We need to fix that.
…
2 hours later
…
SD guy #2: Got it ! Since majority of player base doesnt like to play competitive as well, then lets combine those 2 and put it right back in.
SD guy #3: Great !
SD guy #4: Super !
SD guy #5: Amazing Idea !
…
Players: WTF !!!
“Progress”
Be4:
Starts game, looks at 3 missions, adjusts mercs, joins pub match, plays.
Now:
Starts game, looks at 3 missions, cancels competitive one(s), adjusts mercs, joins pub match, plays.
Except they had this, people complained righly so that the win X missions in Pubs led to stacked teams.
So they put the win X mission in the only place where teams can’t be stacked (outside of premades) and thats competive. Considering that competive is the mode that wants you to take the game a bit more serious, I think a winning condition mission is fair.
No, the had “Win X Stopwatch” games etc… Not just win missions. Huge difference
One lets you play anything you want and win where everything else they have ever put into the game has forced you to play one mode or another.
Seriously…still here. I know Ctrix thinks this is the best B*****T ever. Let me try to explain, I am not up to the gold or whatever level it is where maybe it is truly competitive, I’m at the lead level or something. I say that because when I play, all the people name have little black badges next to them. But in most games, what happens is that it is almost all black badges in one group, and then apparently to fill a group, a couple silvers and golds thrown in. Things quickly go down from there. Today I played a game that ended 1:24 seconds into the second half, the first half was basically just murder where the scores on one team were between 322 and 2984 and the other team was between 7825 and 16483. I was on the losing side and basically endured 7 minutes of spawn camping at the end of the first half. and THAT is why “win X competitive sucks” because quite frankly, you either kill 3 hours of time to try to make some credits or you have to go play this s#^.
@Amerika uhm yeah I’m aware of that, was just shortening because I was to lazy to write Win X stopwatch, Win X objective. You had to win one of the regular modes (tho ranked matches counted toward the stopwatch if I remember right).
@Whoisthis Uhm that black badge is not a rank it means they are unranked (atleast if it stays this way at the end of the match). Unfortunaly the matchmaking throws unranked people into random matches and uses them to fill the gaps.
Fret not tho you will get a rank after completing the 10th match. after that you should be seeing mostly those roughly at your rank and ofcourse the poor unranked souls.
Personaly I think the system should pitch unranked against each other, for the first 5 or so matches. Build a mini ladder between them. After match five use that ladder to sort them roughly into the real ladder and use the 5 next matches to readjust before giving them a rank as usually.
Just as a note here, I’m a casual so generally I don’t know competitive or balance stuff. I pretty much exclusively play drunk in skype calls with friends playing the game sometimes after work.
People interested in competitive are often a different or, at least, specific type of gamer which is not synonymous enough with gamers who want credits to get more of the stuff in the game to justify pushing credit hunters to jump into competitive. The wrong type of player for competitive is probably a player who doesn’t actually want to play competitive.
Whereas pushing people to try different mercs is fine because it benefits their gameplay desires no matter what their style. Even KD hunters can get an appreciation for how to kill different classes, and casuals get to experience more of the game which enhances their sense of “bang for the buck” or general vastness of the game as a whole. You might say these types of players are bad for the game anyway, and that’s fine if you feel that way I guess, but if nothing else they’re at least specifically bad for competitive. Hunting credits implies you want more of the content in the game, it doesn’t imply you take the content seriously. I think. That’s just what I think.
Now me hell, I don’t even pay attention to the missions, now I just dump credits into upgrading Bushwhacker cards. As for why the missions are still in, it’s probably because this is a beta, but again I dunno how that stuff really works.
I hate getting those, they are the only sort of mission I delete cause I prefer to keep my sanity than get 500 - 1000 credits in a game.
